how bout Broderick Fobbs at Grambling St. I mean look how he went and turned that historically great program around from the dumps. Not to mention he's an offensive minded guru who took Grambling from 2-21 in previous two seasons to 17-7 through his first two seasons plus one game this season. Also the fact he's also a disciple of the late great Eddie Robinson. And not only that he's a young 42 year old whom happens to be from Monroe, La., a place over the last few years we've had trouble recruiting. Ijs, if the first two strike out, nice back up.

I see folks vaulting Aranda up after coaching one game. Wouldn't Coach O seem a better fit as an interim or bridge to a new coach since he has prior head coaching experience, and says he'll only leave for another head coaching job?

If we did that mid-season and O held his own I'm not against sending O to head coach, let Aranda and him hire his D Line replacement and keep the rest of the D coaching tree intact (if he so chooses) and bring in a serious offensive coordinator who can decide which, if any, position coaches to keep. I think this best fixes the problem, right?

Herman - Yes
Jimbo - Yes
Patterson - Sure but isn't coming here
Dabo - Yes but obviously isn't coming here
Chris Petersen - Eh, still, he isn't coming here

Fedora - Possibly a good third option
Harsin - No thanks
Rhule - No thanks

O is a terrible head coach.

Like, historically record-breaking terrible. Also, he's never proven he can even coordinate a defense. He hasn't been a coordinator.

Aranda is clearly brilliant, can coordinate the hell out of a defense, and I wouldn't call him a "bridge" or temporary.

I thought he learned from his mistakes in his last stint at USC. If you can't get 1A or 1B, wouldn't it make more sense to promote O and keep what's working (assuming Aranda's D rounds into shape) than to blow the whole thing up and bring in an equally unproven coordinator?

We always hear what we need is someone who grew up with the love of LSU, who will coach not as a job but because he's passionate about LSU; well, that's O. If at some point the D is playing lights out but the offense continues to suffer I'd be willing to give O the shot...

I mean the communication bar isn't going to be any lower than after Miles leaves; I can't believe I might consider Coach O a communications upgrade...

Let me add to the Lane Kiffin legacy:

AL DAVIS said he could never be trusted. YES, THE SAME AL DAVIS of the Oakland Raiders.

Every school he has touched as head coach led to trouble with the NCAA. His inability to maintain any form of administrative control amongst his assistant coaches is part of the problem. He's total lack of any respect for pretty much anything is the rest of the problem.

When he's under the thumb of a command and control freak like Saban, he seems to be kept in line. There is still time, however, for problems to leak where he back-bit Saban to Alabama's detriment.

The guy can coach offense, but he's a cancer.

If you know it going in, do you want to take testosterone when you are certain to get prostate cancer? Weigh the benefits against the detriments.

Hire Peyton Manning. That will solve all of our QB problems.
