Have been thinking of joining one of these two ranges. Is anybody a member or have gone as guests to either of these places? I enjoy being able to shoot outside versus going to precision or having to drive all the way out to sherburne. Our main office is in port Allen, so I'm always over there and it's an easy drive on the weekends, usually Whereas I live in Gonzales and wouldn't be able to go during the week much but weekends would be no problem. But I do know they have a lot of competition shootings at Palo alto on the weekends. Anyway some feedback would be much appreciated

Went to hunters run yesterday. They just went under new management. Half of the sporting clay throwers didn't work and the AC in the club house was down

Was not impressed at all.

Pali Alto has a 600 yard range.

I think they only accept new members once a year though.

Me and civiltiger shoot hunters fun white a bit, but we aren't members.

It's nothing special, but it's a good place to shoot a few rounds and drink a few beers. I think the rifle range only goes to 100 yards. It's usually pretty empty when we are there.

I don't know anything about PA.

I joined Hunters Run at the beginning of the year because it was cheaper than driving out to Sherburne once or twice a week and saves me about an hour each time. Pretty standard setup with berms at maybe 15, 25 50 and 100, boards to hang your targets. No steel and no full auto though. Rarely anyone else on the range when I go during the week. Couldn't tell you what its like on weekends. It's been many years since I shot clays there so couldn't tell you anything about that side.

shite! I was planning on taking a few co-workers out tomorrow to shoot the course... we have a company competition coming up soon and they need the practice

It's a fun course to shoot, when it's working

To hell with golf. I will use my clubs for target practice. Plus fishing will start up in about a month or so.

I'm not really sure. They were having a sale when I signed up for whatever holiday it was around, $175 IIRC. The regular rate initial dues are higher than the renewal dues, maybe $225-250 to join and $200/yr after your first year. Then its $5 to use the range each time. That may be $5 per hour, I'm usually only there 15-30min so not sure if its per hour or not.

Not really.

The clubhouse is nice enough and it's set up fine. Grounds are always taken care of...not a dump at all.

I've shot there a lot. I've never seem more than one thrower not working, and it's usually just a low battery. To say half weren't working is bullshite.

It's a close and convienant place to shoot. If you're looking for a high dollar club to jerk you off, Hunters Run isn't the place, but if you're just looking for a nice place to pass a good time, it's good for that.

I went. Yesterday. To hunters run

Station 5, 7, and 8 Had no throwers working. Station 1 only had the low tower thrower working.

I'm not speaking bullshite.

Then that is way out of the norm. I've shot there well over 100 times, never had a problem with more than 1 in a session. When informed about it, they take care of it right away.

Not beating the Hunters Run drum, just stating what it really is. It's certainly not a dump and you can pretty much expect all the machines to work.

i ran the numbers on it last yr, and basically you would have to shoot 25 times in a year just to break even on the cost of dues. I mean, if I really got into it I might shoot 25 rounds in a year, but just to break even?? Just pay the guest cost when you go.

You can only use the rifle range if you are a paid member.

Ah. That would answer the question then. Sorry I kind of get tunnel vision on shotgun shooting because that's all I do really.

This is generally the case.

Jim Beam is correct in saying that for the last few days about 1/2 the trap machines on the walking course haven't been working. Some of this is due to worn out equipment, and some due to simply charging up//replacing worn out the 12 v. batteries.

The current "interim" manager knows little about keeping the machines running. The owner is still looking for a full time manager.

The skeet fields and trap fields have been fine. It's the sporting clays course that needs new machines (or overhaul to existing machines) and new batteries.

The rifle/pistol range is only available to members and guests. $5 per hour for members with maximum charge of $10 per day.
