Can someone really be called a bagman if he's only delivering $150. Maybe an envelope man but even that's a stretch.

President Kenny Matassa. His spokesman, Lester Kenyon, referred all questions to Matassa's attorney. When asked who Mattassa's attorney is, Kenyon said he didn't know.
Got some real pros there, real pros!

That guy should save that money he's throwing around and get his teeth fixed. He should get an orthodontist! That's a dentist, ya know!

If you listen to them all, they finally up the offer to $1200. Then we he was making the deal, they had shorted "the envelope" by $300. They ended up scratching up another $150, the supposedly wrote him a check for another $150.
So much trouble, involving so little cash in the deal. Obviously, there's plenty of money to be made by Lawson not taking Bourq's seat.
I mean really, $1200 to buy someone off?

The advocate is reporting that Babin is already talking about recusing himself. He said he represents the parish. They also stated that Babin stated that he has heard Matassa's of the story. They said it may have to go to the state DA. I swear if Matassa gets off on this.

Ouachita Parish DA will take it and will surely let him free

Not that Ascension cares, but this is a microcosm of the reason we are moving from Prairieville back to BR (as have a handful of other couples w/ small kids that we know). Most people in all the Prairieville precincts didn't vote for this idiot. Until Prairieville can get it's own say so in ANYTHING without Gonzales/Donaldsonville, then I won't continue to live there. A large portion of AP's tax base gets shite on due to decisions made by people living 20+ miles away. And that this sort of IDIOT is running the parish? May as well just move back to BR and do private schools. Less traffic I guess

I agree. Not much if a bag needed for 150 bucks. Maybe a coin purse

Prairieville will eventually follow the precedent set by Central and Zachary.

I contacted Bill Profita on Talk 107.3 this afternoon about this. Hopefully they will be talking about this tomorrow.

I tend to agree. I have friends who work in the schools in AP-specifically Oak Grove, which is known to be one of the best in the state. Says they're overflowing with kids and in T buildings now. And they have several new subdivisions planned, which are zoned for OG, with no plans for the extra kids and especially road infrastructure. We just left that area, sadly. Great area but we saw the writing on the wall with the roads, schools, drainage, and general lack of give a shite from AP officials.
I don't want to pretend like I hate AP as they get some things very right--including their sheriff deputies/police. Wonderful police force.

Most of the issues have stemmed from proposed tax increases for roads/infrastructure being defeated until they become an absolute crisis.
As much as I want to blame Matassa and previous AP Presidents, much of the blame rests on the voters within AP. I've seen numerous proposals to improve interchanges and widen highways get nixed by voters. NIMBYism is very strong here.

They do everything backwards. Approve a dozen plus subdivisions without addressing the schools and roads before the flood of people start coming in

Well actually, you are correct but my first comment said that parish pres was only a portion of the problem here. I've watched the infrastructure that is desperately needed get voted down each year. And I've gone back to review the voting returns and the AP residents in Donaldsonville/sorrento and other areas that aren't affected by the problem are the ones voting it down. Which is why I stated it pisses me off that Pville infrastructure can't be done without their vote.
I've had many people try to explain why Pville can't incorporate and have their own city taxes to pay, and the answers I got all revolved around corruption in Gonzales/Donaldsonville that would never allow it.
