Talking Politics on Facebook

I don't know why but it seems like everyone I'm friends with on Facebook that is age 40+ posts quite literally nothing but links to political articles or political memes. It would appear that friends of these people are all doing the same. Why is this?

Same reason you post this shite here and not on political board?

Sounds like you have shitty friends.

I've had to unfriend multiple contacts due to this, as well as every hour some have to post religious BS. OK I get it you are a friken Christian now quit posting about it.

Just a few things you should know. Men, not metrosexual men, drink black coffee, and avoid social media. We would rather focus on our work.

It's because jackasses love attention, but mostly have nothing to say.
Posting pictures of their grilled cheese sandwich on a paper plate is no longer end vogue.

Because they have nothing to lose and want attention. So far, all of the political spam in my feed comes from uneducated distant family members and those under 30 with liberal arts bachelor degrees. I don't have many older FB friends.
All of my professional friends who are doctors, lawyers, engineers, etc. have managed to show incredible restraint and class. I very seldom see a political hit piece post from anyone of any repute.

Oh yes. the same people who share articles from the daily currant and the onion--then caption the article with "I TOLD YOU SO..." Oh yes, there is a special place at the Golden Corral buffet line for these people

The majority of my family works in the oilfield although very few actually share any memes and ridiculous articles. That being said, if I come across an absurd political post it almost universally comes from someone in the O&G field or the spouse of someone in that field.
It makes me cringe how often they perpetuate the stereotype.

I'm not one of those people who thinks social media is ruining society, but damn if it doesn't provide nearly constant reminders of how uneducated and easily manipulated the average Joe is.

I have a redneck cousin from Mississippi who posts all kinds of ignorant political memes. He means well, but it causes me to roll my eyes a little. There was another guy who was a high school acquaintance with whom I briefly worked at this restaurant who was on the other end of the spectrum of political retardation. I deleted his arse.
It isn't going out on a limb to say that Facebook is crap, but it still does allow me to stay in touch with people who I would otherwise never hear from. Also, it has made organizing the fantasy league a lot easier this year.

Probably because they feel the biggest election in the nations history is looming and the fate of the free world is hanging in the balance. But I don't Facebook so I wouldn't know

I delete most of these folks.

The worst are the ones posting links to videos showing people being decent to each other. Hey, I just held the door for that old lady - let me document it for Facebook.

Outside of a couple people that actually make reasoned arguments, they get a 3 strike policy. On the third, I'm either getting you off my FB or just blocking your stuff from showing up on my feed.
