They have some good items in there but plenty of it is cheap garbage with a trader joes label slapped on it.

I agree with that!

When does Metairie open?
I have a bag of those dried cherries in my kitchen right now. My own faves to add to that list:
--pork and red chile tamales, in the refrigerated case not freezer
--mini peanut butter cups; the size of a pencil eraser
-- baconesque popcorn
--turbinado/sea salt chocolate covered almonds

Their french blend coffee is pretty good as well if you're a coffee drinker

There's no longer a sign where the Metairie store is being built. Been that way for a while. I wonder if plans changed about opening there.

This is how I feel about trader joes.. I actually thought they were a high quality store at first. Then I saw their prepackaged sushi. It was some shitty looking week old snow crab roll with mushy, mashed up rice
If they sell that garbage, who knows what else they'll sell. I'll pass on Trader Joe's.

Everything looks really good with the packaging and how it is presented, along with the price generally being low. When you actually research some of the items there, you find out its rather low quality ingredients.
It comes off as a place that is full of customers that dont have a grocery list and are just walking around buying random crap on impulse.

It sort of is this, but it's targeted to single people who don't want to spend a ton on ingredients they aren't going to completely use. That's why a majority of the things are prepackaged into servings for 1 or 2 people.
It's not a one stop shop place IMO, especially if you are feeding a family. I go there to grab produce because I feel like the quality is good and the prices are as low as I've seen. I also grab 1 or 2 frozen dishes for my wife and I to eat on nights we don't feel like "cooking" or going out. We both like the Chinese dishes, Greek Chicken with orzo, and raviolis pretty well. Some random snack items that I like are the guiltless guac, peanut butter crackers, and classic potato chips. DO NOT EVER BUY BREAD HERE! I always feel like it expires by the time I get to the checkout line.

Found this detail, September.
That's strange. Seems like they are going for a slow pace as based on construction, I thought they could be open by now.

Another good deal on coffee is at Costco.
Kirkland Signature Roasted by Starbucks House Blend Whole Bean Coffee. ( current go to coffee)
Damn strong without that Starbucks smokiness.
Hijacked my own thread.

When the Metairie store opens, I think it's going to be the tipping point where a grocery store in that area will have to go out of business. Starting with Whole Foods, if you go easy on Vets there will be 6 stores. Can't support that many and my bet is that The Fresh Market will be the loser.
