You could be the victim of bad luck, but if the only constant in the equation is you....well

I drive for Uber and at 213 trips, my rating is 4.89.
I usually don't start a conversation unless initiated by the rider.
I usually drive early AM until noon. Very rarely drive on Friday and Saturday nights, so I avoid the drunks and douchebags that give bad ratings.
I give every rider a 5 star, except for a few 4 stars and one 3 star.

I guess this makes you an authority on this topic. When do you not give 5 stars? I mean, if the riders just use your service and don't want to chat with you, do you rate them lower? I'd think that would be perfectly good business behavior.

I actually don't have the App, I just figure that's what people who get a low rating think. My wife usually books the rides, I am going to have to check with her.

I own a car, so I've never used Uber and likely never will.
I only use it when out of town. I valet or use the parking garage at the hotels I stay at and Uber everywhere. I never use it in LC because I live in a rural area and I don't think they even have it in LC. Beaumont does, though.

quote:Hell no, I love that shite. Chatting is cool too but can be exhausting on a longer trip if it's only one rider. Very rarely will I give lower than a 5 and it takes a real dick to get me to do that, or eating/spilling in the car. Had a couple girls step in with a cigarette still lit but they immediately put it out when I asked to, hard to hold that against them.

4.84. Really took a hit when some drunk sloot dropped a smores cookie mid ride.

4.62 I cancelled one early and prolly got a 1 star to recover from.

4.97. That's acceptable.

I would never rate a rider below a 5 if he did or did not want to talk. That makes no difference to me.
The 4s I've given has been for riders that did an inaccurate pin drop and I had trouble locating them and then they got pissed at me for their mistake.
The one 3 I gave was picking up a guy at the NOLA Convention Center, and as I was waiting for him a cop came to my car and told me to move out of the no stopping zone, so I went across the street
The rider got upset because I moved and he had to walk across the street, even though he saw the cops clearing the stopped cars.
And when I dropped him off he slammed my backdoor because he was still pissed off.

Is the rating a huge factor in picking up a rider? Would you rather pick up a 5 star guy over a 4.7 star guy or does it depend more on other factors like the destination?

whomever gave me a rating below 5 can go frick themselves

I only turn down rides if they are to far away, like more than 5 or 6 minutes from pick up. But there aren't too many of those with the overabundance of drivers in NOLA.
I did get a ping once from someone who had a 4.1 rating. That's the lowest I've ever seen.
And if you are a problem rider. Uber will kick you off the app where you can't request any more rides.

And the driver never knows the rider destination until the rider is in the car and the trip actually starts.
It's really not worth driving for Uber when you figure your time, gas cost, insurance and wear and tear on your car. You are making minimum wage when you average it out over the long run.
My Ride share insurance is paid up for another two weeks. And after that I will probably stop driving.
