i've watched a lot of different eps, but never the entire thing. should i watch it all?

i've also never seen these shows in their entirety: parks and rec, entourage, 30 rock, scrubs, game of thrones, the wire, the sopranos, true detective, 24, lost, arrested development, friday night lights, the walking dead, mad men, how i met your mother, etc.

although i've seen episodes of pretty much every series listed above.

yes, i suck at TV. the only shows i've seen all the way through pretty much are breaking bad and peep show. so that should tell you that i'll watch just about anything.

should i watch the office? should i watch something else? thanks movie board.

well you should absolutely start it. Peak office is up there with peak any sitcom ever. It starts to dip off around season 6, and (trying to avoid spoilers here...) there's a cast shakeup the next season that really just goes off the rails. There's some really solid episodes in the last season but overall the quality of 6-9 aren't close to 1-5. But definitely watch 1-5 then decide from there to keep going or not.

hilarious. Similar to the office. Season 1 (6 eps thankfully) is pretty bad, but 2-7 are top notch. I'd put peak P&R up there with office. Just really solid funny arse TV.

30 rock

also hilarious. Every character grows on you and alec baldwin is just masterful.

true detective,

watch season 1. Not that many eps so you can knock it out in a weekend. Skip season 2.

, lost,

an all-time great but hell of a time commitment. You will likely never be invested in teh characters in a TV show like you will with LOST. Has some of the best individual espidoes of TV I've seen.

Ya know I kinda lost interest when I saw how many other shows you listed. Just start with those then we'll regroup in a few months

The Office
Parks and Rec
The Wire
The Sopranos
True Detective
Friday Night Lights
Arrested Development

all badass

shite, if I had to chose I'd say start with True Detective. Only 8 hours and just some phenomenal TV. Even better since you probably have a Louisiana connection.

Wow, I missed this part of the thread. Holy shite.

Here's my input on what I've seen of that list:

Scrubs - arguably up there with GOAT-status for a sitcom. I'm not sure any show has done funny and drama as well as this one. And it's a fricking sitcom. Also, the music is almost always badass.

GoT - hot topic right now since S6 just ended. I would say get into this one if you like "serious" type dramatic shows. It's fantastic, and will end up being on most peoples' top 10/5 lists when it's done. It's awesome.

The Wire - hands down the best show on television I have ever seen.

True Detective - only watched S1, but it was great. Not all-time awesome, but still really great eight episodes of TV. I've heard S2 struggles, but is still pretty solid.

24 - fantastic show. I started in S4 and loved every minute of it (no pun intended). Still have never watched S2 or S3...need to do that. S5 is one of the GOAT seasons of TV ever.

Lost - another one of my favorites. Some love it, some hate it. It's pretty polarizing. But I am firmly in the "loved it" camp. It's awesome.

TWD - love the show, but it gets repetitive at times. This past season was pretty awesome though. It's a great show, especially if you like the genre.

HIMYM - I liked it, but I was late to that party. The latter seasons bothered hardcore fans, but I enjoyed it all. It's a pretty clever sitcom, although sometimes it can get a little too cute, if that makes sense. It's enjoyable TV though, and solidly funny throughout.

The prime of the office is so strong. Is say what at least until SC leaves. It goes down after that.

There's really so much good content on Netflix and Hulu it's hard to tell someone where to start. You could say breaking bad, the office, the wire, entourage, AD or many many others to watch first and I couldn't really argue.

I just got done with season 7 of the office and I still think it's good. No it's not the greatness that 2-5 are but I still laugh a good bit

Are you really asking if you should watch one of the top rated sitcoms of all-time "all the way through"?

Seriously, this board has jumped the shark.

How about you watch some shows then start topics. Or watch some shows then ask for recs.

GTFO. Parks, 30 Rock, Scrubs, GoT, The Wire, Sopranos, True Detective S1, Lost, AD, Mad Men are must watches.

This thread should be titled "I don't watch TV, should I? Thanks Movie TV board." Ridiculous.

How in the world does someone just watch a few episodes here and there of the bolded shows?? Sitcoms are obviously pretty easy to just watch one here and there and be able to enjoy it. But idk how someone does that with serious dramas or a show with 21 different character storylines?

The office is/will probably always be my favorite sitcom ever. Seasons 1-5 can't be beat. Season 6 and 7 were not as great but still really good. I admit though season 8 kinda sucked. Season 9 was ok, but once you're that invested you have got to stick with it to see the final payoff

The Office and Parks and Rec were both great sitcoms. The Office dipped after Steve Carell left but finished strong with a great finale. Both are definitely worth watching.

I recently have started watching the office not too long ago.

Through 7 seasons, I'm going to put it this way:

Seasons 1-5 I couldn't stop watching. Watching it on lunch breaks at work, as soon as I got home till bed, pretty much. Every episode I loved.

Since then I put it on at home, maybe watch one or two episodes each evening. Funny moments from each but a lot of "meh" moments as well.

I'm not going to say after season 5 it gets bad, but the episodes as a whole aren't as funny. Doesn't make me want to stop watching because I'm looking forward to finishing, but it doesn't have me as hooked as it first did.

I've seen the Asian Jim clip from Season 9 a ton (mainly before I started watching), and I haven't gotten that far yet, hoping more moments like that finish the show off.

I may be in the minority but I really enjoyed the last two seasons. The finale brought me to tears like a big baby. After Steve leaves they develop Darryl, Kevin, and Erin a lot more and I really enjoy those characters.
