You probably should give them back. The business potential is too great for you to start in a hole. The $10s of dollars and increased exposure to other people who find hedgehogs, ferrets, sugar gliders, hamsters, and guinea pigs is... nevermind.

So when your family asks what you're up to and you reply "i met this woman who gave me hedgehogs to breed, so I'm going to a convention to learn more and picking it up as a moneymaker"

It flourished after I took yalls advice and didn’t return those hogs. Then I invested the earnings from future litters in Bitcoin and am now living on a houseboat in southern France selling exotic fish.
