No, my CC covers it.

The people who work at the rental companies receive a lot of pressure from their management to sell those insurance packages. It stinks.

When purchasing the company's coverage, you are really only covering yourself from filing a claim and paying your deductible. Almost every full coverage auto policy covers you in a rental vehicle but you would still be responsible for filing claims and paying deductibles. If you only need a car for a day or two, it may be worth the extra $20-40 to not have to pay your deductibles if you get a door ding bigger than an inch or two. Don't ever buy PAI or Liability coverage from them though. Not worth it.

Sales numbers and customer service numbers are the only way to get promoted with these companies.

I had a guy at Enterprise in Las Angeles tell me he wasn't sure he could let me drive a car off the lot if I didn't purchase insurance.

I really only rent cars if I'm traveling for work, so yes. I'd rather cover my arse and have work pay for the insurance

You'd get in trouble where I work for wasting their money when you turn in an expense report. Been there, done that. I had no idea what I was supposed to do as I had only been with the company a few months, so though "better safe than sorry". didn't get in trouble really, but was quickly instructed that it wasn't necessary since I already was already covered under the companies car insurance policy.

I interned at a rental company in college. I felt like you could be great with customers and be a model employee; however, if you didn't sell enough insurance packages or other add-ons, your job was always on the line.

I get it, I guess. It is just unfortunate.

no my policy covers rentals as does my credit card. I have two layers of protection before I sign the agreement.

I never have, except once when I wasn't paying attention and they slipped it in.

It actually ended up saving my arse when my gf wrecked it.
