all of this.

I've never said "i hate parish and all their beers suck" but i get lambasted if I offer any opinion other than "best beer EVAR and andrew is beer god!!!!"

they have had QC and consistency issues over the last 2-3 years with some if not all of their beers. i dont see how anyone can debate that.

Nobody is perfect, its okay not to think they are the best brewery in the world. That is what is great about beer is that it is very subjective. I try not to nitpick the details and just get excited that they have been able to be so successful.

I'm also not about comparing batches and that stuff. Drink to enjoy not to critique.

Pretty much all small batch brewers do. Small brewers don't have all of the controls that the BMC beers have. Sometimes they're brewing in hot weather, sometimes cold. Sometimes it's humid, sometimes not. Their processes aren't controlled by a computer - they are controlled by an employee who is not quite as exact.

I am very thankful for this. I enjoy the fact that I know the next batch of Ghost is not going to taste exactly the same as the last batch. Sometimes I'm a little disappointed, sometimes I'm pleasantly surprised. It's not like GitM fluctuates between Heady Topper and Jockamo. It's all good.

Of course the neckbeards will give Andrew reach arounds to be the first to try XYZ.

But seriously, the problem with the OP (who could very well be trolling) is he says he wishes LA had a "legit" single IPA. When asked what he considered "legit" he names several that many would argue Opus is better than, then in the next statement expressed disappointment that Opus didn't rival Tree House. So I guess that the definition for legit?

That's all just dumb. Or trolling.

i dont know if he's trolling or not, i just wish they would have left OV alone.

I don't think anyone here has an issue with people voicing an opinion on a beer or when someone says they prefer batch x to batch y. People have this conversation here all the time without getting defensive.

Typically , it's only when a poster makes statements of fact about a beers recipe, the changes or lack there of to the recipe between batches, or business practices that posters tend to get called out and the Parish fans get defensive.

so 1.5-2 years of OV "tinkering" before we get some consistency?

I imagine their process is "lets make x style of beer. Lets come up with a cool name, and lets work on it till it is where we want it for that style of beer"

I feel like the other way you can go is the Abita route and have like 4 different IPAs that are consistent, but some of them aren't very good, and none of them are spectacular.

I heard there was NO vanilla in this batch of Reve, IF this is true. I'm curious as to why the recipe change, after it was anounced at the first Opus release that Andrew believed Reve was the "best beer they had ever brewed"?

based off of experience, i'd have to disagree with pretty much all of your post. if you say you don't like something about Parish or their approach to brewing you get piled on by the neck beards/"mavens" pretty quick around here. i've been called an idiot countless times for saying I didnt like something about a specific batch or a change that seemed unnecessary. it's just my opinion but obviously opinions arent acceptable when it comes to Parish

so the only way you can have "consistent" beer is if it's not very good? ok...

cause that's what they do, make something good then change it for seemingly no good reason

Cortado is better than Reve

I think this is why people hate on Parish so much. Everything they come out with is the best ever and better than every other beer. Then they change the recipe and the same people start to discuss things they didn't like about previous batches.

All that said, we do need to appreciate the IPAs that parish is coming out with. They're good and you don't have to spend 10 dollars on a bomber.

This one I can agree with you on. First batch of rêve was perfect, imo. I tasted the second batch Monday, it is no where near the level of the first.

I'm ok with tweaking OV to improve it, but rêve was already there.

Im not for or against a Reve tweak, though I liked the first 1 ALOT, I was just looking for some insight on why.

It's small batch it's not like they are adjusting bottle by bottle. thats the point of having a tap room. No one bitches at Nola for switching up lower line

Exactly. My main beef is that they didn't tweak OV to make it better. They tweaked OV to make it taste like Ghost. I liked what they did with OV originally. It was unique.

Parish should just stop printing labels at this point and just call it "IPA Batch 32" or whatever. You can never be sure what you're getting.

Since this was a much larger batch, I would imagine money.

B also mentioned that the coffee grinds left a big mess, maybe the vanilla did too.

Wrong on both counts.
Why so paranoid?

No one bitches about NOLA or Lowerline because nobody cares about NOLA or Lowerline. Would you care if Tin Roof changed their Blonde recipe which changed it only marginally? No, because nobody is drinking that crap to begin with.

If you want a passable sour in this state you need to head to Shreveport.
