I would *LOVE* to know what repairs Walk-Ons is having done and who they're paying to work during Fourth of July weekend to do them. Liars!

The Mexicans don't care about it being 4th of July weekend.

Walk-Ons and its employees are probably thrilled reading the tweets from all of the black people saying they will never go there again!

Even black service professionals complain about working Essence weekend.

I fail to see what is wrong with a business closing temporarily for any reason.

The accusers are racist for opting not to tip the majority of the time

Maybe, just maybe. They need some repairs done. Then out of good planning and thinking ahead, they scheduled it for the fourth of July weekend so all employees get a nice break for the holiday.

Who am I kidding? We all know what's up.

Glad to see we can all agree on something. Two full pages and still no downvotes.

Damn, The Slizzard King fricked it up.

I'm not a huge fan of Walk-ons food, but I think I'll stop by this evening for some chicken wings

It is a little silly to close during one of the biggest money making weekends of the year. And the Essence crowd is pretty tame compared to the Bayou Classic.

Here is pretty much what I posted yesterday on the food board yesterday....

It really comes down to a good business decision for most. I know the racial element comes into play in these discussions and there may be a small element in truth to this, but it really is probably the slowest week of the year for many restaurants. Places need a break every now and then and despite the poor tipper/bad customer aspect, it is the best time to do it.
Walk-Ons just wouldn't have done much business anyway you spin it.

#1 It seem half of the people in Nola head to the beach for the 4th.
#2 People want to grill and be outside over the holiday weekend.
#3 There is a perception among some I know that the parking or traffic will be bad because it's Essence. I wouldn't find this one to be a big deal, but it is a factor with some people.

I have friends who run various small businesses in Nola and the surrounding area that close for the week or at least most of it. It's just a good time to close shop and relax or get out of town.
