Lee, Threadgill and Gunter are the only ones I haven’t seen any confirmation of where they are

So now that the 2018 draft is done who are the early big time draft risk for 2019?

Rece Hinds and Daniel Espino are probably the biggest draft risks. Both because of their early round talent.

Hinds (much like Turang) has already been mentioned as a potential 1/1 candidate. Turang's stock fell. Hinds has more raw power. Even though he's probably more likely to play 3rd than to stick at SS, he can be a premium defender at 3rd with a strong arm. Good hit too. Great power.

Dugas looking like a future star in the making. Check out those stolen bases and RBI’s. Only negative is he is striking out a little too much, but he’s still adjusting

According to twitter reports Beloso homered for Lima last night, but the live stats thing is still stuck in the 9th inning this morning so his stats haven’t updated.

According to the same guy he went 4-5 with a HR in a scrimmage late last week before their season started over the weekend.

ETA: DiGiacomo is off to a bit of a rough start and Garza made his first appearance with that team last night.

Not worried about DiGiacomo (he needs a nickname) he shouldn’t be relied on next year and his speed and hitting style makes it hard for him to be useless even if he struggles (which I think he won’t). The real concern is Mathis. He’s K’d 11 times in 8 games and his bat wasn’t very good in the few JUCO games he played too. Hopefully Willis is 100% in the fall and can play back there.

Beloso is racking up on post season awards from his senior year. He might be a real steal for us and an immediate impact at DH or 1st

Yeah, that's been annoying me.

Dugas is striking out just under 20% of the time. While that would be close to the highest on LSU's team, it's around the NCAA average. I don't know what the Prospect League average is but I may figure that out later today.

Former commit Johnny Ray of Illinois St is on the Danville Dans as well. He redshirted last season. He's got some decent pitching stats for the summer team.

I came across mason Doolittle while looking for Broussard and Hughes on their roster and he basically struck out in 50% of his ab’s.

Speaking of that, has abyone found those 2 on a summer roster and what league is beloso in?

Another side note: a guy on Dugas’ team is 16-16 in stolen bases. He’s a JUCO guy too.

He makes sense as a DH early on. Left handed power bat, something LSU was greatly missing in 2018.

Beloso is on the Lima Locos in the Great Lakes Leage.

Hughes will be on the Rockford Rivets with Mathis.

Broussard will be on Wisconsin Woodchucks.

Once they season starts, the Northwoods league doesn't list them until they arrive.

Vietmeier and Doughty are supposed to be going to Lima as well.

He's barely struck out too.

As to my previous post about Prospect League strikeout rate: The league rate is 23.3%. Dugas is at 19.6%.

I've done some calculations to see how Dugas is doing compared to the league he's in. I have an incomplete OPS+ calculation done. I haven't adjusted it for park factors. But the unadjusted OPS+ for Dugas is 139. That means he's 39% better than the average Prospect League player.

I did some Park Factor calculations for the 2017 Prospect League season, and Danville was the second most pitcher friendly park in the league. A three or five year Park Factor calculation would be much better than a single year, but it's still something.

Summary: It looks like Dugas is way outperforming his peers in a park that makes it very difficult to do so.

He's now down to .366, as he's 15 of 41.

But he's up to 11 RBI's, which leads that team (two other guys are tied with six), and he's stolen 10 of 12 bases in 13 games.

So far Dugas looks like a big addition. He's a Josh Smith from the looks of it.

CPM needs to find a place for Dugas early in the lineup. I agree a Josh Smith in the making.

Broussard will get the first crack at second base but I think Dugas will get every opportunity to win the position in fall ball
