Sad loss for sports. Truly remarkable coach.

Rest easy, coach.
Alzheimer's is probably my greatest fear.

Sad way for anyone to go. At least she probably never knew what her son did while he was at Tech. I hope she didn't anyway.

She will go down as one of the greatest coaches ever regardless of what sport and gender. Terrible way for her to go down.

Great person and coach, a real winner who earned everything she got. Class act and for those (like me) who view Sue Gunter as also a true champion, let it be known that Pat Summit helped get Sue in the Naismith hall of fame prior to her death (Sue did not live to see the ceremony but had been admitted when she passed), so another example of the kind of woman Pat was...And oh by the way a tremendous athlete (basketball and softball)

Only 64 ... that's way too damn young.

She was a winner, and would have been at any career choice. If it weren't for her, LSU women's basketball (among others) would definitely have more hardware in the trophy case.

Heard recently she wasn't doing well. Sorry to hear. To a great coach, rest in peace, Pat Summit.

I wish that disease on no one! I watched my mother in law for 11 years fade away due to this pathetic and horrible disease. It can devastate a family!! We cared for her and it damn near sucked the life out of me! God speed Coach Summit you are in a much better place!

Pat had a great relationship with Sue, who was an assistant coach for the 1976 women's Olympic team that Summitt played on. Both of them died too young.

A legend while she was here on Earth. Rest in peace. I'm glad I got to watch her in action.

The battles between Sue's Tigers and Pat's Vols will not be forgotten. RIP to the best
