Yeah but it's much easier to sell "overall campus improvement and potential extra revenue generation" than "firing the most successful coach in LSU history."

Tigerland desperately needs competitors that'll force the area to improve its quality. The railcar to downtown would help.

Wonder where all those rvs are going
To be moved to for games. Those spots weren't cheap I'm sure and mostly bigger donors.

I wouldn't be shocked if that gave LSU enough dorms to force freshmen to live on campus their first year. You could just tell them they can't have vehicles their first year, keeping parking available.

I agree 100%. I'm disappointed with them not allowing bars, kinda sucks. I also wish they would have went with more of a 'downtown-esque' vibe for the retail stores & less of a 'generic strip mall' look but hey, beggars can't be choosers.

We may be in luck though, I know investors are looking to buy up & redevelop the entire block of W. Chimes Street (Northgate). Could be huge in crippling shitty arse Tigerland. Our quality of bars near campus is lacking

That area has to get better. You need to be able to keep attracting students from outside of LA.

You guys are talking about throwing around $30 mil to get a coach. Not improve the campus and surrounding community.

I understand your sentiment but outside of a few stores, the area is so damn shitty. Shitty sidewalks, graffiti, vacant buildings, lopsided utility poles, etc. If done correctly, the area has vast potential.

I'd hope the Northgate Merchants Association would come together and set some type of design standards, guidelines, restrictions, etc in order to keep the chain stores out and help maintain the street's charm.

I mean come on, we can't get better than this?

How is the UREC construction going? I haven't been near there since they started it 2 years ago.

It would be pretty awful to live in those new dorms and have a class across campus. That's a 30 minute humid hike.

Many older residence halls are already slated to be torn down when this gets built, Kirby Smith among others.
