Have any of you ever disliked your old job/education and decided to go back to school and learn something else.
I noticed a good portion of the OT believes in just sticking to one job.
Personally, I do not think you should stay in something you strongly dislike unless.
A) You desperately need the money to live on
B) Kids/Family to support
Life is tough, we all know that. However, life is also too short.

Nah. Life is long when you hate your job.

If only you put as much effort into your career and education as you do trying to get people to validate it for you, you might just get somewhere in life.
You're a grown arse man, start acting like one.

I'm doing it right now. Did 8 years in the navy after high school than got out and started school. It's a little weird being nearly a decade older than everybody else, but it can be humorous as well. I've been asked what it was like in the "old days" before iPods came along, and other things like that. On the other hand, I see a lot of kids worried about paying rent, student loan debt, working 2 jobs, etc, so I'm really thankful to have the GI Bill paying for everything.

Graduated and worked for a casino as a Human Resource Generalist for 3 years. Realized it was a deadend street and decided to go into Civil Engineering. Engineering degree took me 3 years and today I am a VP and Houston Operations Manager (I do have my P.E. for what it's worth). Best change I have EVER made.
I have been in engineering now for close to 20 years.

Go to Cali and get a job working for a defense contractor. You will make money and get your security clearance.

I went at 34 after I got out of the military. The worst was all my classmates calling me sir.

If there were six volod clones and me stuck on a deserted island together and I had a hundred poison tablets, I'd take all the pills in one sitting.
In the first hour, probably.

I'm not sure I can take five more years of threads related to your academic "pursuits".

I'm impressed. Not one person trashed him for his grammar. Maybe the OT is getting soft. Or tolerant.

I left my job a year ago to work on a PhD. My last job was in environmental consulting, and I am going back to become a microbiologist.
Fortunately I am able to also work with my grandfather on the side because I wouldn't be able to support my family on a graduate assistantship salary alone.
