bats tend to cool off as the pitching gets better in the NCAAs. If they are playing like this in the World Series, then you should get excited.

Enjoy the moment. You don't know how this team will finish up so live in the now and now they are playing their best ball of the season and looking great. If you can't enjoy the times when they are playing well because you think at some point it will end then why even be a fan.

I'll eat crow on this season. I NEVER saw this type of turnaround coming. The youth had matured very fast and the assistants are earning their pay checks right now. Cannizzaro and Dunn are going beast mode!!

He not only replaced 7 of 8 everyday position players with his offense only taking a small step back but they are scoring runs and being successful in a completely different way than last year. The pitching staff is continuing to improve and the bullpen guys have been dominant lately.

Everything in your post was spot on. But this part is really important to keep in mind. This team is absolutely on fire. Pitching has been good this past week. And hitting has been just good enough. Last night was good, but we're still leaving too many runners on base.
But if our offense sparks and our pitching continues to be dominant... Watch out

The players regrouped pulled the whole team together. They are the reason for these wins.

Yea the coach has zero to do with it but had everything to do with the losses. I get that on this board we for some reason think that it is players vs coaches on every team but in actuality it is both of them that have to get on the same page to make a turnaround like they have.

I think PM is a good coach but it had been an awefully long time since we have sniffed a National Title. Granted, the competitive landscape in CBB has changed a ton since the "great old days" of LSU baseball pretty much dominating a decade, but going deeper in the CWS is not an unreasonable expectation for a school with our tradition.

Who said I was not enjoying the moment. I just do not think we have the defense and pitching to win a National Championship. But hey, if they win the SEC Tourney it will be awesome. If they are still playing like this in the Omaha, then its time to get excited. I think they are peaking too soon, but had a much worse regular season that most PM teams so maybe this team will buck the trend.

I have faith in lsu because of this: 15 of last 16 with only loss to Florida.

We have beaten the number 1 team 3 times, and the number three team in our last 6 games. Everything is clicking at the right time. The fact that we are young gives me hope that we will get only better, and better than where we are now is scary for other teams.

Considering what he has had to work with tip to bottom this is CPM best coaching job since he's been here. Fun team to watch right now.

PM is a great coach who makes some poor game management decisions at times, but who doesn't.

He's done a great job this year.

How many years has this board bitched about LSU not having enough quality pitching....and they still don't have enough. Two starters and Johnny Wholestaff year after year.

Peaking going into post season play is not a bad time to be peaking.

So, I don't know of I would call them a "great" team, which is the point to which I was referring.

You are arguing semantics at best. That was a very talented team who won a regional @Miami and then came in Alex Box and took 2 from LSU. They beat LSU despite having the unfortunate circumstances (rain) of facing Gausman to close out game 1 (extras) and in game 2.

I'd consider getting to Omaha the mark of a great team, especially in their fashion. Not to mention they went 21-3 in conference play and 43-11 overall, which was the best record in the NCAA. They had 7 players drafted in the 2012 draft alone

As for the rest of your post, that's a non sequitur in respect of my point.

You didn't make a point. You posted a fact then didn't expand on your "point" at all. And it really isn't. I'd consider last year's team to be a great team, yet 1-2 in Omaha.

Crazy thing about the term "great" is that it has different meanings to different people.

I believe, regardless of what happens the rest of this season, that this season has been Mainieri's best coaching job since he has been at LSU. And that includes 2009, the CWS championship year.

Having to replace all but one starter from last year's Omaha team and getting the team to where it is now is just an incredible coaching job. Realizing that the batting lineup that started last night's Miss St game included 2 true freshmen, 4 true sophomores, 3 juniors and no seniors is an amazing testament to how the coaches have molded this team this season. This is not the same team that lost to Lamar.

Just compare LSU and Arkansas seasons. Both teams went to Omaha last year and this year Arkansas didn't even qualify for the SEC tournament.

I really don't care how much the "fully invested, internet, couch-fan haters" will criticize my comments. They are irrelevant fans anyway.

I'd give that to 2008 when the program was actually rebuilding. That win streak was insane
