It seems in most cases, no matter how minor the accident, the people not at fault are somehow always so injured that they need an ambulance, and the person at fault always just walks away with no injuries. Go figure.

I'm sure it has nothing to do with insurance adjusters contesting clear liability cases, etc.

idiot.

Many Louisianians voted for Fat-Mike Foster's tort reform in the 90s on the promise of watching those rates fall and fall...

What's this!? They kept increasing??

The masses are such a strange phenomenon.

Yeah and the insurance company laughs all the way to the bank.

I am thinking the 50% uninsured rate is the leading cause to our high rates

Da fuq? Sorry to be that guy, but frick that. I have been a safe driver and have overpaid for insurance for 20 years because I am a male. If I get a chance to get some of my money back from the system, I am going for it. Not to ridiculous excess, but I will never feel guilty about taking money from an insurance company. Vicious cycle, I know...

Everyone always misses the boat on this one. The reason we have high insurance rates is very complicated, but part of it is because we have such bad drivers and such a high number of uninsured drivers.

However, if you want to stop all the auto liability tort lawyer, insurance rate madness, all you have to do is lower the jury trial threshhold to $5,000 and prohibit attorneys from contributing money, directly or indirectly, to judges' campaign funds or for advocacy in any judicial election.

Another approach would be to impound and sell all uninsured autos and require one year of pre-paid insurance on all automobiles. If insurance isn't pre-paid for a year, no inspection sticker, no license plate, no title, etc.

Funny how that happens...

A lot of nonlawyers think this because these members of the profession are the most visible to lay people. There are a lot of different kinds of lawyers, most of them the
public rarely sees.
