A reach? It happens all the time in soccer.

Guy gets tackled, guy gets up relatively quickly. Happens 99% of the time. Unless you are watching some South American country play it is relatively rare to have some guy just rolling around for no good reason.

Agree to disagree. I watch both of them a ton, it is an issue in both.

I don't think it does any good to downplay it or equate it to basketball. Americans who try to get into soccer and don't like it, that's always their biggest problem. It's a pervasive problem. It just goes against our American sense of what sports should be about, and the main reason Americans won't fully embrace soccer. They never will until they fix it.

Plus when drawing a foul is advantageous of course you are going to sell it, basketball players do it too.

I mean, sure, but basketball players generally retain at least a modicum of dignity when doing this.

In soccer they will yellow card you during the match for a dive.

Or, you know, card the "offending" person if the "victim" sells it hard enough.

And FWIW, it totally sucks in basketball too.

Or you are just making it out to be something it is not. See plenty of player play through painful shite all the time. Every other game you will see some dude have to get a bandage wrapped around his head because he took an elbow to head or collided with someone.

This may come as some sort of surprise but sometimes getting your legs taken out by someone in cleats takes a few seconds to get up from.

A basketball foul is largely someone slapping down on someone going up with the ball. These things are easy to deal with.

Yeah I would expect punches to be thrown immediately. This isn't some fake tough guy BS shoving match - he just decimated your player with a kick to the back.

More often then not it takes a lot for the ref to start carding people, especially early in the game. It usually has to be something super obvious. Someone overreacting to a little bit of contact usually won't earn someone else a card.

Yeah, there wouldn't have been any shoving. Just KO's.

How many soccer games do you watch in a given year?

I like soccer but his comment is not a reach. Flopping isn't even the word for it at this point. The shite happens multiple times a game, every game.

Remember that one time a basketball player acted like a soccer player and he got made fun of for it every single day? See basketball is just like soccer!

I mean that first guy saw the whole thing. A punch should have followed. I'm usually all about staying calm and what not, but this situation calls for retaliation of that kind.

Someone needs to throw a punch. Or a flying dropkick.

Someone could find a video of a ridiculous nba flop for every soccer one. It's pretty bad in South American culture but for the most part it's usually players that have been sprinting and get taken to the ground and lay there for a few seconds. I'd be willing to be if you went out in your yard and sprinted around full speed then fell to the ground you would not be popping back up in less than 2 seconds to continue sprinting

Player taking light contact and going down to win their team a free kick is not the same thing as taking some contact and rolling around like you just died.

Just like in basketball there is difference in selling a bit a contact and acting like someone just sniped you while trying to make that layup.

That is all I am trying to say
