Which coach is the closest approximation to Miles?

I'm going with Fulmer. Hires great assistants, is a good recruiter, but is otherwise pretty useless. After January 7, both will have won 1 MNC.

Miles and Fulmer are better with coordinators they trust such as Crowton and Cutcliff. They meddle with them less.

He reminds me of Bo.....
Shembechler that is. I truly mean that. I never thought Bo was a genius..... just a good solid coach who was always smart enough to hire good assistants and let them do their work.
He could usually beat tOSU.

He kind of reminds me of Richt from Georgia and Stopps from Oklahoma.

The reason he reminds me of Richt and Stoops is just something about the intensity in their eyes. They all seem to get a single minded purpose from time to time and kind of stick their jaws out and narrow their eyes.
These three also at least give the impression that they put some importance in things other than just winning football games and making money. No idea if its accurate but you at least get that impression from them.

Coach Miles reminds me of coach Bryant and I have always said that. Coach Bryant, like Miles, always surrounded himself with great assistants and then he let them do their job for the most part. I also think Miles is old school like coach Bryant was and I think he is very passionate about what he does. Just my opinion.

dunno. The other guy I have come up with - especially if Miles stays here for a while - is Bobby Bowden. Again, not a real X and O guy (these days at least) but tries to keep good people around him, wins a lot of games, recruits well, doesn't have much hardware to show for it.

Why do you keep talking about a lack of hardware? First, even one national championship is more than most coaches ever achieve. Second, Miles is only in his third year at LSU, and is prepairing to coach his team to a national championship. This has only happened twice in our existence, so what gives?
