Because other people would drink like one cup per day, and only 1/4 of the people did. I think he did it so he could take a shitbreak before lunch

My company threatened to start charging for coffee. We have 2 of those huge 20 gallon coffee urns/pots that employees would fill up twice a day and throw away at least 80% of it since we had less than 10 people drinking coffee. We were going through coffee like crazy.

When the threat was made the employees miraculously found the regular coffee pots and now we waste very little coffee each day.

Funniest part was I had to research how much we spend on coffee each year (coffee, creamer, filters...) and found out it would prorate to less than $500 a year(after we put a stop to the urns).

Jeez that sucks. Even government employees get free coffee.

We do not use taxpayer dollars for "free coffee". We pay for our own coffee.

I can attest to this. It stinks, but not really a big deal for a coffee drinker.

maybe if you did you wouldn't move at half-speed and the DMV line wouldn't stretch out into the parking lot.

I'm not really sure there's a huge production benefit by people drinking coffee. I'm certainly not any more or less productive when drinking it vs. not drinking it. It's a nice perk, but some of y'all are taking this shite way too seriously.

quality?

Starbucks coffee blows. They burn it.

"Dose" in Nashville has unbeatable coffee though. I'll get that a lot.

Hopefully, none of the people answering "yes" work in sales. Never paid for coffee at work. We kind of had a, "No coffee, no work!" understanding in my office. If our corporate office didn't get coffee sent to us on a truck, a manager would go buy a couple of bags from a grocery store.

i like cafe verona and the french roast and you can ask for a pour over for free (which is delicious) or you can pay another 50 cents to have it done on the CLOVER and that rocks

Productivity has no correlation to coffee intake. Providing coffee is a nice gesture, but it's not some huge productivity boost or anything.

If you feel like you need coffee to be more productive, then it's either a placebo effect or some other factors that aren't your employer's issue.

You're out of your fricking mind if you think my morning caffeine doesn't help my productivity.

Out of your fricking mind.

weren't getting the productivity ROI we'd hoped with free coffee, so we're trying free amphetamines now and its paid for itself 12x over

Maybe I just don't understand it because it doesn't have that effect for me.

Same for Adderall, I feel the side effects, but doesn't make me more productive. I just talk a lot more about random random subjects and have an even harder time focusing on one thing.

Fairly certain businesses can deduct expenses for coffee, so unless your employer is the government, they are just doing you and themselves a disservice.

If you run your own business, you are silly for not deducting the coffee expense. Buy a good coffee machine and some good coffee and expense it.
