Alden's surgery was done Wednesday morning and according to LSU Baseball Facebook, it went well.
He should be able to return next season about this time I would guess.

Likely to be out next season as well.

Good luck, Alden. 1 week completely immobilized. Another 2-3 months in a brace with the ability to slooooowly allow more range of motion. And 4-5 months of not even picking up a baseball and rebuilding strength and stamina in the core, shoulder, forearm, upper arm. Then a throwing program that feels like it's taking forever while every odd feeling scares the shite out of you.

It's not so uncommon at other places.

I heard a statistic this morning that said 56% of all Tommy John surgeries are now performed on kids 15-19 years old. Ridiculous.

Exactly as my son described his 2 shoulder surgeries.

Then that begs the question why are these injuries so prevalent? I'm pretty ignorant in regards to baseball.

Kids throw too much too young.

They point to the old school tactic of throwing pitchers as often as possible. It's a stupid argument. Guys weren't throwing nearly as hard and mechanics are totally different. Anyway, I'm with the travel ball crowd where kids are throwing a ton and throwing offspeed way earlier than they should (10-12 years old). Dr. Andrews falls in that crowd.

This may be the first post of yours that I've seen with more upvotes than downvotes.

8 months of not picking up a baseball and he does not miss next season?
Posted on 4/15/16 at 8:14 am to mikeytig
there is still a month left of this season, so he has 5 months after picking up a baseball to get ready. Is that not enough for you?
