When Denver International Airport opened on Feb. 28, 1995, construction had fallen 16 months behind schedule, and $2 billion over budget. The final cost of the Denver airport was $4.8 billion, which is a lot of money. People wondered what it had gone toward. The airport itself is 35,000 acres, which is almost twice as large as the next biggest U.S. airport.

Many of the conspiracies around the Denver airport revolve around what may lie beneath the airport. A former airport construction worker claimed that the reason why the airport was so far behind schedule was because five multistory buildings were built underneath the airport. This same construction worker, as well as others, also supposedly said that there was a complex network of tunnels beneath the airport.

One of the most startling things in the Denver airport are the murals that line the walls on Level 5 of the Jeppesen Terminal. Many think that the murals, painted by artist Leo Tanguma, tell the story of apocalyptic biowarfare destroying the world as we know it, with the New World Order taking over in its place.

What is "startling" about this? It's a damn painting.

Dont forget the Satan horse that protects the airport.

I've seen some of the murals, they are fricking weird. That is definitely a weird place. Apparently it was also financed or built by the New World Airport Commission.

I thought that was Mile High Stadium?

All of my flights in and out of there have always been on time. Place could be built on top of the bodies of a thousand Indians. I could care less as long as my flights go smooth.

The horse sculpture outside is the strangest part of story, IMO. Put in 20 years later to troll people --that's the opinion by many to have a demonic horse as the crown jewel.
It even killed the sculpture
quote:
He was killed in his studio in Hondo, NM on June 13, 2006, when a large section of Blue Mustang, intended for Denver International Airport, fell on him and severed an artery in his leg. The sculpture was based on the eight-foot-high sculpture Mesteño (Mustang), on display at the University of Oklahoma.[4]

It's an awesome airport. I love the weird paintings & gargoyles.

Don't go down this rabbit hole unless you really have an open mind and want to question a lot of what you know to be true.

What would freak me out is if construction finished ahead of schedule and under budget.
Then, I'm willing to talk apocalypse.

Depicting the angel of death in a gas mask with a sword slaughtering children is a little disquieting for an airport, bro.

The Atlanta airport has tunnels under it to. I check theM out whenever I change terminals. Crazy.

It's not that crazy. It's our home base for the apocalypse. About 2500 of us have invitations to join. If you haven't heard of it, then just sucks to suck I guess. Have fun with the zombies
