Wife drive a Suburban and I want a SUV just don't have a need for another road yacht.. So been looking at something like that.
They have a masculine feel IMO. I have added some racks and a ladder to mine, and it looks really masculine

Yeah that's been my gripe with smaller SUV's.. But it also could be hanging around this place more than I should that has skewed my judgment.
Kind what i'd like

I drive a Land Cruiser and the wife drives an LR4. Both have been solid and reliable. The Land Cruiser is by far the best-made true SUV if you really need one for towing, off-road, etc. Just check the specs compared to other luxury SUVs. The thing will last forever, mine has 155K miles on it and stupid thing won't break down so I can by a new one. Land Cruiser only comes fully loaded at about 83K. LR4 is a lot cheaper, but still very nice and my wife loves it. I've always felt Range Rovers are a little too pretentious or something, but that's just me.

And they stopped being lemons when they broke away from Ford several years ago.
Let me expand on that bit.
In 1989 Ford bought both Jaguar and Rover. Jaguar, from about 2005 onward has been at or near the top in reliability while Rover has lagged. Ford sold both marques to TATA in 2008.
So why did Rover lag behind?
Ford put many resources into Jaguar. In particular, changing production methods and upgrading the Coventry plant. Plus, Bill Ford loved Jaguar.
I fully expect Rover to continue to improve under TATA's ownership, but Rovers are complex.

Hands down the best vehicle ever produced in the history of human civilization. Mileage? Doesn't matter. Find one that looks nice and clean. It'll run like a top for millions of miles. And it'll still hold up style wise in the year 2050

good luck finding a good one that hasn't been shipped to the ME. I want to get my wife one. Been looking for quite some time.

The M class has been renamed the GLE class (2015)
Made here in Tuscaloosa. If any of yall are ever in town and need something to do, the Mercedes tour is really cool.

seems like these days, it is mostly women driving luxury SUV's...

My bad..I did list crossovers as well. Either/or are fine with me. I'd like a luxurious interior with comfortable seats and a smooth comfortable ride. The infotainment system is important as I don't care for difficult systems to figure out. I don't need a 3rd row (the wife has a larger SUV) but the extra seating for kids would be nice occasionally. My budget is about $150K - $160K. Probably won't be able to afford the Bentley a previous poster posted! Haha

All of the premium suv's have different characteristics. I would drive the best 5 as I find it very subjective. I just finished putting over 320,000 miles on a Range Rover with only a few issues that were minor. Bought a new autobiography and it's much better than the last generation. I'm a big fan of the Lancruiser and I have also had some G class Mercedes. You have to drive them to determine what works best for you with regard to towing, seat layout, ride, etc. They are all faster than they need to be!

Hell I didn't say I didn't use every last drop of it! Lol. That AMG G class is about the craziest thing I have piloted. Damn missle with a short wheelbase!
