Does anyone have any tips, places to stay, things to do etc.
My wife and I are thinking about going in October. We are both late 20's and no kids and have never been which is why we are wanting to go.

You are in your late 20's, have no kids, and can presumably go anywhere in the world and want to go to Disney World?

Stay in at least a moderate, preferably a deluxe. Drink around the world at Epcot, spend your nights at Disney springs, go to the parks for the rope drops and you'll be riding when no one is there and the lines are nothing. Ride when people are at lunch, eat when they get back from lunch.

October is wine and food festival. Was crowded last year for that.

There are these private boat tours you can take at night. They are called fire work cruises. They take you on a party barge around bay lake and give you interesting facts about Disney. It concludes with them idling the boat right in front of the fire works at magic kingdom. They have snacks and drinks included. It's about $350 if I remember correctly. Pricey but definetely worth it. It was awesome.

Do Ohana for dinner in the Polynesian resort.

Wait til you have kids. You are paying large sums to wait in line. Unless you have a Disney princess fetish I'd skip DW and head to the Caribbean.

Just got back from Orlando. I haven't been to Disney in 14 years and little has changed. For someone in their late 20s, universal is the much better option. Spend a day or two at both unversal parks. Get the park to park tickets and if you're going during peak season spend the cash for the express pass. If you stay on property at universal, you get into the park an hour early and express passes are included.

My wife and I went at 24/25 (we were living in Savannah at the time so an easy drive). Best advice, stay on site and get a meal plan. Might seem pricey, but it is worth it.
Do your research on the fast pass, it is great. Plan your routes ahead of time. Spend a full day in epcot and drink around the world. Spend a full day in Magic Kingdom and stay till closes to watch the fireworks and light show.

Been awhile since I've been but here are some recommendations:
- Port Orleans Riverside is very nice. Never stayed at the New Orleans based one but I think they are very similar so it's probably very nice as well. Carribean Beach is nice if you don't mind a slightly older resort (still well kept up last time we went).
- For two adults, I'd think Epcot would be the first go to park. In addition to the countries they have Soarin', Living Seas and some other really nice attractions.
- MGM (or whatever they call it now) also will have some great stuff. Not sure if the new Star Wars stuff is open or will be when ya'll go but that sounds really nice. They also have Rock 'n Roller Coaster, Tower of Terror, etc.
- Don't skip Magic Kingdom even without kids - things like Pirates of the Carribean, Space Mountain, Tomorrowland, the old cartoons on Main Street, etc. can be fun.
- Some totally random food things for a change of pace - Turkey legs are great. We'd get them at MGM but I think they sell them at all the parks. And Tom Sawyer Island used to have a place that sold things like PB&J sandwiches and fried chicken if you want a simple lunch.
- If they still do the early opening/late closing thing for on site guests, do that and take a rest back in the room mid day. Lines and atmosphere are much better early and late I find.

I have a family member who is a Disney Booking Specialist. Whether you are DVC, staying on property, staying off property, splitting time time with universal, etc. She (no pics) can help. She will book your tickets, room, dining reservations, photopass, character meet and greets, fastpasses etc, so that when you get there all you need is your magic band.
I can speak from experience (my family is dvc and we average 2-3 trips a year) this service costs absolutely nothing. Disney has already factored in a booking fee into all of their prices. You might as well get what you are paying for! She is an expert on everything Disney.

If your schedule is flexible, she can also advise on when to go, what parks are most crowded at which times of day etc.

Are you driving or flying?
Stay in Hotels off the property, and drive to Downtown Disney to catch the shuttles to and from the parks. Don't eat in the parks on a regular basis, and you will save money.

I'm going back in June . We've already made reservations at some restaurants. Some are already booked up. Get on Yelp or trip advisor and find some you're interested in. I wanted to try the new skipper canteen restaurant at MK and its full. We decided on Liberty tree Tavern. There's lots of options at Epcot. HS either Sci Fi Drive in or 50s prime time diner

Don't go to Disney is my advice. Wait till you have kids. Go on a real vacation with your wife, because once you have kids you'll have to consider them for most trips.
