re: Anybody Believe the Predictions About Ammo Shortages After November Election?

I found the "letter" that I mentioned in my previous post. It gives the appearance of being a little self-serving --- unless it's all true.

I have no idea if any of this is a valid issue for folks like us. Maybe it's all exaggerated. Personally I don't have any immediate needs. But a shortage that's severe enough, or protracted enough, can cut into just about anybody's ability to train/practice.
Maybe Carson, or some of the others here who work in, or own, LGS can give some insight into the Hornady "advice."

If you need to restock on ammunition or other firearm supplies, there’s no better time to buy than right now. That’s according to a firearm industry insider who says political uncertainty driven by the election year could cause ammunition and firearm shortages.
Jason Hornady, vice president of Hornady Manufacturing, told the National Shooting Sports Foundation that 2016 is already showing signs of being a “surge year” for firearm industry sales. And a similar surge in 2013 caused a nationwide ammo shortage.
He said: "If I was running a firearms retail store, I’d make sure I had strong relationships with multiple vendors and distributors. You’ve got to “feel the love” from as many as you can, and you’ve got to talk to those partners frequently. We judge much of what we do by the purchase orders we see, so if you haven’t got it on paper, we can’t project accurately. And again, remember that 60-day, 90-day or even longer restocking period I talked about that some can expect to encounter later this year if they don’t stock up now? The reason for that is that the process of taking metal to finished product is long—our average is 90 to 120 days. So if I’m out, you’re out, and there isn’t a quick solution for that. As I often say, it’s easier to handle a cancellation than to handle a panic I’m-out-of order."
Hornady’s advice works just as well for the end purchaser: Too much ammunition on hand during a shortage is always better than not enough.
According to the firearm industry expert, the likelihood of anything in the nation’s near political future driving down ammunition demand is “about as likely as I am of getting a pet unicorn for Christmas.”

Imagine that. An ammunition manufacturer telling people to buy more ammunition.
I think there will be a Diesel engine shortage next year. There's some indications that Bernie will push for much stricter emissions standards that will all but kill the US diesel market. Better stock up now just incase.

Per my Wall Street sources, Hillary is a lock.

I don't have Wall Street sources but the people I trust for that kind of stuff are saying the same thing. Such a shame.
Buy more engines people. It's only going to get worse. Inventory is already down due to speculation by the big players in the market. It seems like they already know something and are trying to stock up while prices are still reasonable. They've made their play already and you're already late to the party, but the doors still open.

Fair enough to be somewhat skeptical about "warnings" from an ammunition maker to "buy ammo" now, but, for the record:

--- truer words have never been spoken.

Hell even when it Wasnt on the shelves and people were limited to 1 box of .22 me and And few other OBer's were able to get it from cabelas for .04-.05 cents a round by using a back door loophole. I was able to get anywhere from 2-10 bricks a week for the longest time. You could even get the green ammo cans of .22.
So even if there is a run or shortage there will be ways to get what you want.

It's SELL, not SALE. You sell something. You make a sale.
I hate when people aren't educated enough to know the difference.

It is unbelievable how many people don't understand the difference. After reading some of those buy/sell facebook groups, I thought it was a running joke. I refused to believe so many would say Sale instead of Sell.

You have to say it with a gump accent. Sell and sale.
