Sometimes you win when you lose. LSU gets two legendary players, both first-round All-American types. Willis, Noil, Brown not so much. And lol at Hootie Jones. Scrub. Just sayin'.

University of Alabama defensive back Tony Brown is facing an indefinite suspension from the NCAA, TideSports.com has learned.

Boy LSU came out of that deal like some champs. Easily got the two best players out of that 5.

And avoided 3 headaches. Nice.

What did he do? Everything I've seen is "breaking team rules" etc.

Never heard from Hootie Jones again, did we?
That was when I gave up on recruiting - when sI realized how these guys lie to get attention. The ones who lie have bad character and rarely make it anyway.

I'll add that Les deserves some credit.
2014 - hung out to dry on NSD and still came back with an incredible class.
2015 - went from being "fired" to having one of the top 2 or 3 classes.

On the 5 for 5, LSU was the winner looking back on it. Did not realize it at the time

I remember when seeing Adams's tape for the first time made me forget Hootie Jones existed for a minute.
I didn't care one bit where he went after that. Adams is going to be a top 15 overall draft pick next year after a consensus All American type year.
Fournette is going to be placed in the college football legend status after next year. He's going to be a Unanimous All American
1) He needs 2273 yards to beat Herschel Walker's career SEC rushing record. He needs 2315 rush yards to place in the top 10 of career rushers. It would make him the only one in the top 10 to do it in just 3 years (aka category of his own).
2) He needs 25 TDs from scrimmage to beat Tebow's SEC record and 25 rush TDs to beat his rushing TD record.
3) He needs 2136 yards from scrimmage to beat Herschel Walker's all time SEC record.

Wouldn't surprise me at all if Speedy got suspended really really soon too.

I know there were a lot of us who ranked Fournette and Adams as the top 2 of that group. Same mentality for each side of the ball.

I think Hootie get's a bad rap. His mother made a lot of comments about him being neglected by the staff, even on his visit. And I don't think she was lying.
It became apparent that our focus shifted to Adams.
After watching Hootie play in the semis, it appeared to me that the word contact was not in his vocabulary. And I know that does not sit well with our present position coach.

I'd rather take the high road and not even mention the enemy on our board.
If you ain't with us then **** you.

and yet you never realize how they may have performed at LSU....
for every Tony Brown there is a Cam Robinson

Was the second best player LSU was after in that class. We should have done more to get him because he was our only "miss".

I think for LSU, at least since Saban came, there are more Browns than Robinsons.

Do you not understand that these dudes aren't even performing because 1, they can't get on the field, and 2, because they can't stop doing dumb shite off it? They would do the same things at LSU and be in the same boat or off the team.

What the hell does CRob have to do with 5/5? Yeah we missed on getting him, that still doesn't take away that in hindsight, we won the Lottery in the 5/5 deal.

THIS!
CaN you imagine Speedy an he away from New Orleans? No thanks. He was a nightmare before he left the state.
We grow 4.4 guys on trees in LA.
HE WAS NEVER MISSED

not really
its definitely not a 1:1 ratio
its probably more like 3:1
I can really only think of Cam and Landon Collins
Devall and Williams have been successful but LSU either never really pursued or backed off
