Between the rapid advancement in heuristic AI and the inevitably of a single payer system in America, the role of a physician is going to become greatly diminished - which will lead to a precipitous drop in those numbers in the decades ahead.

My friend who's a radiologist started out at $700k/yr and I doubt he's ever taken a pay cut.

ETA: I could be wrong, I don't ask him. The first figure just came out of his decision on where to live...the numbers just were part of it.

Let me tell you about my psychiatrist. He charges minimal fees and keeps costs down by sharing the secretary with a dentist, sometimes answering the phone himself and taking the subway to work. Though he has a hot trophy wife, she still works as a school teacher. He also has a nutty, forgetful next door neighbor named Howard who somehow got a job as an airline pilot.

Radiologists and anesthesiologists have it made. Overpaid with no stress. Nobody plays more golf than them (except maybe dentists)

I wonder how much the orthopedics number is inflated due to professional sports?

Doc I knew who worked on Saints players was living more than comfortably.

Do y'all even "ancillaries" bro?

As of late, the OT tells me that there is all this under the table "vaccine money" floating around. This too is likely not getting reported.....

It's amazing how much Emergency Medicine docs make. More than Gen Surg, Ophtho, Pulm/Crit, Nephro? That's just nuts.

Surely that changes based on where they live, right? I can't imagine the interventional radiologists and cardiologist out here are only making 400K. RNs are making 250 so I would think they make more than double that...

My neighbor is a Gastroenterologist..... Often wondered why someone would go into that field.... Now I know.

His father is a doctor too, so he probably got some good advice.
