The only store near my house that sells non ethanol gas is in...let's say the ghetto. Last night I went to buy a few gallons of gas and a hand written sign was above he register stating "you can now use your ebt card for hot meals". This place does have a deli in the back, but I thought there was a law that only cold food to be prepared at home could be purchased with a ebt card?

I believe it is due to disaster protocol......When that goes away that rule goes away......

It's a temporary exemption due to the flooding a few weeks ago. Saw the more detailed explanation and coverage dates on the door of the Albertson's near my house.

All the little stores around here with a deli have signs that you can use foodstamps to buy hot food until April 7. It has to do with the recent flood.

Know a guy with a Soul Food/ Plate lunch place in Lafayette. Said EBT cards were the #1 form of payment.

Just because they have some processed meat doesn't mean it's a deli.

Just saw a sign in Amite convenience store last week that said "you can no longer buy ICEES with your EBT card."
How dare they do that to us!

This is the way I look at it, they give out only so much a month, its up to the people receiving it to manage it. The more they spend for one thing means there is less to spend on something else. Plus, food stamps benefit more than the people who receive them. How many small grocery stores or gas stations around the state would be able to run without food stamp customers?

I saw someone buying 10 lbs of boiled crawfish the other day at a store in Walker with their card.

Store in Cottonport lets EBT holders purchase their "frozen" Hunt's Brothers pizza, then cooks it for them.

Dude you can get ribeyes and all sorts of shite with ebt's. If you were limited to turnips and potatoes it would probably discourage long term dependence on it and get up get out and get something
