Outside of GM/HC moves, our pick this year is the most likely asset we have that will determine whether AD stays long term. You don't use the last bullet in your chamber on a guy with a 70% chance of becoming Jamal Crawford, you take the 40% chance that someone like Dunn or Brown become a perennial All Star.
I much rather choose a bust going after a guy who can be a star in this leauge over a bust that at his best can be 1-2 allstar.

This is why I would hat the pick the most. He's the low floor safe guy who probably won't be a star but at least we won't pick a bust. I rather aim for a star role players get traded everyday.
so a role player who can shoot 48/48/89 while taking approx 12/6/3 attempts a game. Puts up 16.6/1.8/1.4 and tov 1.1 a game.
a career 45/41/89 shooter btw.
those get traded all the time right?
Because that is Redick and if Redick is his floor, I'm taking it.
Oh wait, but you want Luwawu who is the next Kawhi/Batum. Ignoring the fact that he could easily become the next Ariza or Sefolosha.

Perfectly fine with that, as long as we don't have to keep hearing about this Luwawu guy who's going to become Batum or Leonard while Hield is going to become Jodie Meeks with a ceiling of JJ Redick

Buddy Hield is gonna force you to make an alter at the rate you're going . You should just admit you hadn't watched him much, and he's impressing you to the point you were wrong.
If I'm wrong I would probably have to delete this account . I've seriously watched him and he is truly a great college player but we've seen what college player done in the NBA. He is the equivalent of a guy who is just too skilled for college ball. He's played the game for 4 year and takes advantage of weaker less athletic players. He is already so skilled I dont see where he would be able to improve his game. He doesn't just have that it gene to give him that advantage. Look at guys like Lavine who were awful in college but are gifted athletically and is looking to be a star in the NBA. While Mcdermott who was a star and was super skilled in college looks like a decent role player. Guys with crazy athleticism always trump out the highly skilled guys if they're able to put their game together. Curry may be the only example ever to trump this and even then Curry has elite quickness. We've watched Evan turner rise in the draft because he had such a great tournament and season now Heild is doing the same.

Nice of yal to put words in my mouth.
You misconstrue low bust potential with me thinking he's some 6th man scrub. The dude is gonna be a stud. I'm sick of this argument, though, so whatever.
In the current NBA if you can't acknowledge how impressive it would be to have some stud rain 8-12 from 3s then I can't help you.

I didn't know the NBA and College had the same 3 point line. Gordon shot 45% from 3 last year so that skill doesn't have me drooling either. I'm worried about this being a outliner season like Gordon's was because he's never shown to shoot this well before. How many 4 year college shooting guards became stars in this leauge?

-Heild has been a stud since he broke into the college ranks.
-He's improved dramatically every year, including his senior year which most players never do.
-His senior season is a better statistical 3 point shooting season than Curry ever had.
Yea I understand the NBA 3 point line isn't the same as the college 3 point line. However, to compare him to Gordon is laughable. The dude had proven to be consistently good, ever-improving, and above all he's a late game alpha dog.
If you've watched him the past two years you'd know that. If you've just seen the stats I understand how you would know that, but just know you're wrong.

Now I will say that if Hield increases his expected ceiling in the tournament or in the predraft workouts, that changes the conversation, and like Shameless has been saying, maybe he's not there at 6 or even 5.

Buddy Hield is basically Steph Curry now. https://www.sbnation.com/2016/3/26/11311136/buddy-hield-is-shooting-oklahoma-into-the-final-four …

Hield is the cold blooded baller we desperately need. Dude would be such a stud next to AD and jrue.
Posted on 3/26/16 at 8:23 pm to Cheesy Beaver
Simmons/House had the best reaction to Hield playing with AD. They were all about it.
I've been on the Hield train for months now. Feeling pretty good about that.

If Heild really does rise I can't see the Celtics passing on him. He's a great fit for their system and are in desperate need for a scoring threat. They are a win now team and looking for someone to contribute right away. I can see them drafting Hield and then signing Horford.
Sixers- Simmions
Lakers- Ingram
Suns- Bender
Celtics- Hield
Wolves- Dunn
Pels- Brown
So if we do get 5 we have a chance at Dunn Murray or Brown who do you guys chose?

No offense, but this shite is so annoying.
Hield will do nothing in this tournament or in workouts to improve his stock. He's been doing this all damn season and pretty much for his entire career. It's just that people are just now paying attention.
Dude is a stone cold killer 3 point sniper and will be a stud in the NBA.

Murray for sure. Honestly you can make an argument for Murray over Dunn since we need a true SG more and we have holiday

That's how the process goes. No Buddy Hield is not going to improve significantly between 3 weeks ago and the draft, but the information we have on him and the alternatives to him will.

What does that mean though? Do you think he will provide more than scoring and rebounding? Lester's suggestion of a more accurate Jamal Crawford doesn't sound unreasonable, but he isn't an All Star or even a starter for most of his career. Korver and Gordon were at the top of the league in 3 point shooting last year, they averaged 12.1 and 13.4 ppg respectively. If Hield averages 17-18 ppg and a good 3P% he'd be very good, but that's basically what Ryan Anderson gives you.
Would I be disappointed if that's what Hield becomes? No. Is that enough talent added to the roster to get this team back on track towards contention? I don't think so, that's why I've been pushing for trading back if guys with All Star potential are gone. Trade back and hope you can get a player that can bring similar value to Hield like Valentine and add a SF prospect or young big to let you move on from Asik/Ajinca.
