Push yourself to $350. I love my Citizen ECO Drive with Sapphire face, radio controlled so it automatically adjusts for all time and date. Great features for the price and usually sells for $600. I got it for 350 on Jomashop.

You may get something that represents "value" in that range, but it will never be a good car.
The same is true for a watch in these price ranges

Beat me to it...all the divers with that look are Rolex knock-offs...

there are not many plain faced automatics left on the market
Say what?
plain faced, no day/date adjustment
automatics , no winding no battery,
get it?!

Good is relative. $200 can buy you a very nice looking automatic with the same guts that are in $2000 watches.
Don't exaggerate. Watches with ETA movements, say the 2824-2, don't dip down into the $200 range. The movement is cost about $300-350 depending on grade, so about $450-500 is about the cheapest you'll find. I don't want to argue this point though, if you care what's inside your watch your budget isn't $200...

Yeah, but there are still a lot of quality watches with that look.
Like this one...

Meh, agree to disagree. I'm not trying to shite on his choices or the choices of many in this thread - they're all fine - but my point is that there isn't much that separates one from the other when they're less than $200. They're all going to be roughly the same, so just pick one that has a nice look and go on about your day. Researching the best watch under $200 if futile IMO.

I'm sure you wouldn't have to look far to find a $2000 watch with a sw200 or citizen 9102 or whatever that Japaneese one is.
They all do the same shite though. I get the appeal of the high grade Swiss stuff, but I just shamelessly ordered a watch with an sw200

Nahhhhhhh you can get some nice features in that range, just not many of them. There's lots of options to decide between.
For instance, you can get tritium, or an automatic engine, or a nice depth rating, or some kick arse lume, or whatever floats your boat. You're just not getting all of that in a professional style dive watch.
There's some good stuff out there for $200

You can find some Hamiltons on the grey market with 2824 movement for ~$350.
To the OP, I would look into a Seiko Orange or Black Monster. You should be able to get one at $200.

Good thing you didn't pay for it.
However, I'm hard on watches and this mofo has taken a beating almost as bad as my GShock has.

If I'm looking for a watch $200 or less, I'm looking at BRATHWAIT.

auto like the Eco Drive
Are you just referring to the fact that an Eco Drive "automatically" charges itself? Because as I'm sure you know, it is a quartz movement. I had an Eco Drive and liked the way it looked, but it did break on me (dropped it from about waist high). Brought it to a jewelry store that sold them and they basically told me it probably wasn't worth trying to fix it. Only experience I have with them, so I could be a fluke. But I wish it would have been a little more robust (wasn't a very bad fall at all)

Orient would be my top suggestion, followed by the Citizen Eco-drive. Orient makes affordable watches with in-house movements. A lot of bang for your buck and a durable every day wearer. A new Orient diver similar to the Seiko the OP posted can be had for under $200.00 on eBay.
ETA: The Seiko SKX007 and SKX009 are also great every day wearers for under $200. A lot of "watch enthusiasts" have that watch in their collection.
