I saw a 30 year old plow into the back of someone on I-10 the other day while she was checking her Tinder or some shite.

Make people that haven't ever and won't ever pay bills pay their bills

do more than slap them on their wrist with a fine. Take them to jail and make it cheaper to have insurance than not have it. Another reason our rates are so high is all the lawsuits.

Yes but I don't know how we could accomplish such a thing considering how many old folks don't have anyone left to drive them places.

Yes. This old frick almost ran me off the road today because he didn't know I was next to him and he just started merging.

Impaired driver evaluations for the elderly already exist. When diagnosing someone with dementia I will often indicate in my recommendations that they should not drive. If they disagree, they can undergo an on-the-road driving assessment.

They're old, they're confused.

No, now get off my lawn.

I didn't get past the first page and it's nothing but tailgaters and people who probably don't signal to turn.
WTF is a posted speed sign? I sure has hell haven't seen anyone other than Mexicans going under 40 on I 10. Usually while illegally towing a beat up ford ranger down to mexico

there's got to be a test for cases before dementia.
people like the OP complained about can't make the decisions fast as most.
not being fast in traffic is a pain in the arse for others, and dangerous for everyone.
I suspect such folks were never really alert drivers (able to notice little things down the road) and now that they have slowed down in reflexes, its just more pronounced.

Kids and millenials texting are a much bigger problem.

Hell yea. My grandma can't drive worth a shite. She shouldn't be able to own a vehicle.

I see more baby boomers on their phone while driving than any other age group.

I have a friend who is an insurance actuary, he studies statistic of his company's insured & then reports the results to the underwriting dept. We were talking just 2 wks ago & he said that those drivers, male & female, between the ages of 18-51 cause the most fatal/serious accidents, with a "large percentage" due to DUI. The next highest category for cause of an accident was drivers who were using mobile phones to text & talk while driving. I'll let the numbers speak for themselves, but I will say this: the world's most dangerous driver is an old man wearing a hat. Especially those in Lafayette.

I have been saying this for years. Once you hit 65 your driving capability should be evaluated.

Yes.
It should cost $5000 to get a DL and the test should be 2 hours long. You should also be able to demonstrate a proficiency in the English language. Lastly, you should produce cancelled checks for two years of car insurance, paid in advance.
