Another knock on Paul Johnson is that he "run the option."

This was true of his team at GA Southern and at Navy, but he's freely stated he'll run an offense that is suited to the talent and players he has and can get.

He didn't run the option at OC at Hawaii, mind you.

I think this just shows the caliber of coach he is. He coaches the talent thats available.

I agree. I think you at least try to get a RR or a JDR, but if that doesn't work then Paul Johnson or Brian Kelly should be the guys at the top of the list.

Paul Johnson may not be available as SMU has him on the top of their list.

Paul Johnson

SMU says enough.

That is a coaching roofie/date rape drug. Once you've been there a little while, you life is never the same...and not in a good way.

SMU might have him at the top of their list, but NOBODY has SMU at the top of their list, nor the middle, nor the bottom.

Hawkins is not having problems at CU. He had nothing to work with last year but this year CU is responding to him. Ask OU. Hawkins is a good coach. By all accounts Peterson is one of the brightest most innovative young coaches in the country and class to boot.

I was a great pusher of Paul Johnson at Bama during our coaching search. Unfortunately, LSU has some of the same kinds of fans that we do that will never consider that he's a good coach. They just look at his losses at Navy and talk about how his offense won't work in the SEC.

I commented on here last night that I think he'd be a good candidate if Miles does leave. I'm sure the guys with the vote won't go for him and I'm not sure he'd want to go to LSU (being a class guy and all )but he's a damn good coach.

Somebody will hire him at a football school one of these days and he'll be the next big thing.

Teague,
I think we have a similar viewpoint/stance on him. The part about him not wanting to come to LSU, with respect to him being classy, was a bit unwarranted though. Considering the class shown by "I will not be the next coach of Alabama" Saban.

I digress, though. I think the dumbfawks in Lincoln, NE, fall under the same lines of thinking that a lot of fans of "our" schools do, as well. I think he'd get that program turned around, but alas those guys think Pelini is the hot ticket.

Oh, I was just joking around. The more time I spent on these damn internet message boards, the more I realize that all SEC schools are alike. Our fans, for the most part are knowledgeable and intelligent, and are completely drowned out by the noise from all the internet psycho "fans". Then, each school takes turns making fun of the others' crazies.

Did you read on that Wikipedia page that he's set to interview with Tom Osborne on Sunday, December 2? I wonder where that information comes from.

Ryan - He is a great coach. Do not let anyone else tell you otherwise. Grobe won the ACC at Wake Forest...Wake Forest! Johnson will have success wherever he goes, regardless of the competition.
