My grandmother lives in an apartment on Lavaca. I can't remember the name but you can walk out on her balcony and look at Texas stadium.

Your grandmother either lives:

a) a good ways north on Lavaca

b) a good ways up in whatever apartment building she lives in

to be able to see DK Royal stadium from Lavaca.

Lavaca Street Bar is in the warehouse district. READ: you have to be very HIGH to see DK Royal from there.
Some of the figures appear skewed. When did Beaver stadium pass the Big House, the horseshoe pass Neyland and Texas pass Tiger stadium?

DK Royal (Texass) just had the north endzone upper deck filled this past off-season.

That place could hold a LOT of people if they had seating on the south endzone, but that'll never happen...they'd have to tear down their 100'x75' Jumbotron television-deal that takes up the entire south endzone.
How is/are ESPN's "source(s)" any more credible than the horsehockey "inside information" sources a lot of the Ranters cite?

Personally I think ESPN has no more privied information than does anybody else, on here at least. I think they're just more reserved in their speculation than any of "us" on here, whose names don't appear in national headlines, are.

Folks have been speculating about this shite for weeks and, just now, ESPN runs an article about some "supposed" hiring/deal?

I see it as nothing more than ESPN trying to drum up business and headlines for themselves.

Dan Rather reported that Gore won the Presidency back in 2000.

Stranger sh*t has happened.

I'll believe it when it is official. Until then, ESPN and their "sources" can eat sh*t.

that's odd or, perhaps, coincidental...

it stated, plain as day, in a sentence at the bottom of that section, that he is scheduled to interview with Osborne for the Nebraska head coaching position on December 2, 2007.

Did you read on that Wikipedia page that he's set to interview with Tom Osborne on Sunday, December 2? I wonder where that information comes from.

Fug it...if we're going to throw out some really far fetched suggestions, why not just go after the Charlotte Independence HS coach Tom Knotts. I mean he coached them to 109 straight wins before they lost to Elder High School (Cincinnati, OH) earlier this year.

Fisher went to Free Shoes to be groomed/whatever as the successor to Dadgumit Bowden when he finally is pushed out or his dimentia renders him unable to fulfill the head coaching position there anymore.

I third the "don't post again" notion.

Teague,
I think we have a similar viewpoint/stance on him. The part about him not wanting to come to LSU, with respect to him being classy, was a bit unwarranted though. Considering the class shown by "I will not be the next coach of Alabama" Saban.

I digress, though. I think the dumbfawks in Lincoln, NE, fall under the same lines of thinking that a lot of fans of "our" schools do, as well. I think he'd get that program turned around, but alas those guys think Pelini is the hot ticket.

SMU says enough.

That is a coaching roofie/date rape drug. Once you've been there a little while, you life is never the same...and not in a good way.

SMU might have him at the top of their list, but NOBODY has SMU at the top of their list, nor the middle, nor the bottom.

Another knock on Paul Johnson is that he "run the option."

This was true of his team at GA Southern and at Navy, but he's freely stated he'll run an offense that is suited to the talent and players he has and can get.

He didn't run the option at OC at Hawaii, mind you.

Whereas other "speculative" or "inside information" reports indicate Osborne was less than impressed with Pelini in talking with him.

I'll believe it when I know it to be fact.

The thing is, only people in Baton Rouge and/or ignorant LSU fans would think that Paul Johnson would be a hire 'out of left field'.

I concur. You might want to add Lincoln, NE to that, as well (with respect to the city/cities you're listing).

For whatever reason, a lot of folks think if the coach is not a part of a big-time national power already, then he obviously isn't qualified or experienced enough to win at a big time program. Paul Johnson took a mediocre, at best, Georgia Southern program and turned it into a 1-AA powerhouse, winning two national championships while he was there. He's taken a downtrodden-to-mediocre-at-best service academy (Navy) and turned it into a consistent winner, having won the last 4 or 5 commander in chief trophies.

I've suggested to Nebraska fans that he would be a very good candidate to coach their team and get them back to being a Big 12 title contender year in and year out and the vast majority respond with "we want somebody we know/somebody familiar with our program" b.s. - i.e. Pelini or Gill. Because we all know Pelini is such a good coach...he's sat in on talented defenses at Oklahoma, in Baton Rouge and the one year in Lincoln he was there is a bit misleading (Nebraska got BOMBED by Mizzou, K State and Texas that year...and Pelini led the team as interim head coach to a win over an iffy Michigan State team in their bowl game).

Paul Johnson is every bit the coach that Jim "the sweater vest" Tressel is, and Tressel was 'nothing more' than the head coach of a perennial 1-AA contender prior to Ohio State.

Everybody focuses on big name coaches. Look at what they've done. John Robinson didn't do squat in his second stint at USC. Albeit it's been but one year, but Saban was less than impressive with the end-of-the-year meltdown at Bama this year. Spurrier hasn't been all that impressive at South Carolina...his record, thus far, is about the same as his predecessor (Holtz) who was another "big name" coach hired to turn a program around.

Depends on the zebras. If they get War Memorial Stadium confused with Jordan-Hare, they'll know to disfavor the team in white, gold and purple and call the game favoring the "other" team.

Bo is the only candidate who is still coaching.

Not true. Paul Johnson still is, as well, and Osborne hasn't spoken with him yet, for that very reason.

FWIW, like the others above, I think Pelini as a head coach would be a HUGE gamble.

One seemingly good season as defensive coordinator (you guys still got lit up by Mizzou, K State and Texas that year...so badly by K State that Pelini ran after Bill Snyder after the game and threatened bodily harm to Snyder) and one bowl game win over a spotty Michigan State team doesn't = great coach. Sorry to break it to the Nebraska fans who are clutching onto that one season as justification for wanting him as the HC.
"not looking to go anywhere" does not = "won't go somewhere if something interesting is presented before me"

"not looking to go anywhere" does not = Saban's "I am not interested in Alabama"

it's a convenient spin on words he used that isn't as concrete as saying he ISN'T leaving the Barn
ehhh, what a dumbfawk I am. Yeah, Paul Johnson.

I don't have an answer to your question, though. Maybe, simply, to calm down the lunatic fanbase that wants/wanted the new head coach hired one minute after it was announced Callahan was told to walk. ???
Bobby Johnson.

Osborne's waiting for the Army - Navy (Bobby Johnson's team) game this weekend to be played before he meets with and interviews Bobby Johnson.

That is all (and, as somebody else mentioned, to try to indicate some semblance of order & bring peace of mind to recruits that might be wondering what's going on in Lincoln).
