anyone had this happen to them? Just wondering mine is a 2011 5.0 but do not hear the ticking or knocking described by all the Ford truck message boards.
Here is a site that discusses the issue.

People go to message boards to bitch. Not saying that this problem does not exist, but the Internet makes it appear that everyone has the same issue. In reality, less than 1% of trucks sold (doesn't matter brand) will exhibit the issues found online.

Thanks for posting this. Now I'm really wondering if I made a mistake buying my F150 last month. I have the 5.0.
I read thru those posts. That makes me nervous.

I have a 2011 and it just hit 100k. I wonder if they jacked up the cylinder while working on it th first time.

We use to see this. Valve would either be stuck or dropped. Only thing you can do is replace the head.

sounds a lot like the 2010 sierra with the 5.3 I traded in.

You have to really be cautious about forming opinions from a message board.
Ford sells almost 500K F-150s every year, a great percentage of those have had the 5.0.
The 5.0 is generally regarded as a rock-solid V-8 and has been used in multiple applications over the years.
I sincerely doubt you ever have an issue.

Probably even lower...
People on here think the 6.7 is apt to "blow up", yet there is no evidence to suggest this happens with any frequency at all, especially in non-commercial applications.
In fact, the F-250 ranks #1 as the vehicle most likely to exceed 200K miles:
F-250

I have an '11 w 95k mi and love it. Only prob ive ever had is if I let it sit for a day or so, on initial crank, the entire truck will shake for 3-4 seconds then it will quit. Makes me think the fuel pump might be losing its prime from sitting there. I will buy another f150 after this one.

My '12 5.0 has 104,000. Never been to dealer since drove of the lot with 2 miles. Thing has been a rock.
