I really want this place to succeed. Mostly because I want Wadsworth to prove that mid city can support a good restaurant and shove it in Brandt's face. His excuse was that mid city was a bad location.

Me too. We're looking at buying a house in Mid City so more places to eat and drink are welcome.
I'm jazzed about that food hall they're looking at opening on Government -- the local version of the St. Roch market. I just hope the food isn't crazy expensive. I would love to see a nice brewpub open up in the old Entergy building.

Food in those pics look terrible. I have never understood how Wadsworth gets the press he gets. I went to IPO twice when he was there, and it was the worst meals I ever had. The food is much better there now.

Didn't he run some type of charity? I'm sure that failed, too.

Terrible name for a restaurant, also.

I agree, not sure why LL got 4 downvotes either because yall are spot on. The food at IPO and Gouter seems like dishes from a foodnetwork cooking competition.

Had lunch at Gouter today. No wait for a table at 11:45, but it filled up quickly.

Started with crawfish bread split among the table. Open loaf with crawfish and melted cheese. It was delicious.

Got the fried redfish poboy, which came with chips and slaw. Poboy was decently sized, fish was fried just right and the bread was what I expect in a poboy. Chips were homemade and seasoned well. Slaw was nothing to write home about, but I ate it.

Table mates got the fried chicken and red beans and rice, which looked really good, and chicken and sausage jambalaya topped with a fried duck egg.

Service was good, food was good, I'll be back.

Looks better than the other stuff posted but it's two dishes that is pretty hard to not look good.

Will try it soon. Hopefully they fix the slaw cause that's one of the best sides for food like they serve

Now that you mention it, I don't recall it being bone in. I'm not 100% sure, but I don't seem to remember seeing leftover bones on his plate afterward.

That's because the fried chicken was chicken strips.

Tried the Shrimp PoBoy today. It was over stuffed with shrimp & good. Thin sliced cucumbers instead of pickles was a nice touch.

Place is open for dinner now... I went Saturday night with some friends and it was excellent. They only had a limited dinner menu, but we tried all of the small plates and they didn't disappoint.

Highly recommend the Black & Blue, and the Wild Boar PB&J. The scallop dish was also delicious.

I'll definitely go back.

Sorry, didn't take any pics.

I went last week for lunch. Didn't care for the gumbo, but the coconut shrimp and "crawaffle" were good. They were out of the "pistachio pie in a jar" dessert that I wanted to try.

glad ya'll bumped this thread. I went back for lunch again last week with my wife. Food was mediocre again.

We had a bunch of small plates:

crab pizza: The dough was chewy and had a weird bite to it.

Cold cucumber soup: was not really chilled. Was lukewarm and had a bad flavor

shrimp tacos: again, the only decent thing we ordered but noting to write home about.

Day boat: was redfish with skin on topped with an etouffee. Was decent but kinda a BS sauce TBH.

I'm not going back for a while.
