Ohio St. hired Jim Tressel from Youngstowns and it paid off...Should Matt Viator the head coach from Mcneese St. be considered if Les would leave. He is a proven winner in high school and at McNeese. So what do u guys think??????

Yes. He's genius. One question though, where is McNeese State?

Hey, Viator did win a state championship w/ Jennings High in 1992.
But seriously, let the guy win multiple national titles at that level (like Tressel) before he merits a big time gig like LSU.

Jim Tressel won five national championships at Youngstown State. How many has this guy?

Im just throwing it out there... I just wanted sum other peoples thoughts.

0 National Championships
I think it was last year when he took over when the then head coach had to resign.
This year MSU went 11-0 but lost in the first round of the playoffs.
He is not ready yet IMO

Well I guarantee you Viator would have rushed more than 3 on 4th and 10, and he damn sure knows how to pronounce the 50 states in the United States. So I would say he is overqualified!

I just think he could be brought in as an Asst. Coach before becoming a head coach at a much bigger school. There are alot more problems that come with the job of head coach at LSU compared to McNeese.

Give him a few more years. He has been mentioned for Southern Miss job already, but if they wouldnt hire McNeese baseball coach in lieu of Smoke, they surely arent going there for Football.

He's not ready for that. Yet. His name is getting brought up for the Southern Miss job though. I don't think he'll get it, but him leaving is inevitable. 17-2 in 2 years. Not bad numbers. Look for him to finish a good 9-2 or 10-1 next year also. After three years, you'll see a record of 26-4, 27-3. The record alone will get the buzzards circling.

He did have some experience dealing with similar situations, just substitute "OB's" for "Varsity".

there actually nowhere near one another....one is in SW LA (lake Charles) and the other is in SE LA (Thibodeaux)...
and Randy...no, McNeese's coach is not quite ready for a program the size of LSU....football at LSU's level is not so much just being a good play caller, like it is at the smaller schools....
it is akin to being CEO of a large corporation....you pay assistant coaches a few hundred grand a year to handle the football, while the head coach handles things like public relations, lobbbying for facility improvements, raising alumni money.....and of course hiring and firing assistant coaches when necessary...
