If Harris doesn't have a whole new look to him, he could certainly be beat-out. He's the weak link.

And the sad part about that is his potential and the fact that we don't need a dynamic do-it-all like Cam Newtom or Jameis Winston. We only need the cliché "game manager" to make smart decisions and get the ball to the playmakers (FOURNETTE, Guice, Dural, Dupre, etc., etc.).

Go look at a number of successful college QBs and compare their numbers from first year starter to second year starter. Then come back. TIA

And Harris had pretty good numbers last year until we couldn't run the ball for 3 games And it turned our offense into something we were built for

This was after he had recovered. You'll see what I mean at spring practice though with how big Etling is. I almost feel like he has too much muscle for a qb.

also heard from some equipment guys on the team who say everybody loves him. I think we need to remember this kid was a four star qb and the quarterback who replaced him at purdue is now likely going to be the qb at Florida. Im optimistic that this isn't just the usual fluff.

Austin Appleby, the QB Etling got benched for at Purdue, got benched himself and now he's likely going to back up Luke Del Rio at UF. So you wanna start a guy who got benched for a guy who wasn't even good enough to be the starter the next season? At fricking Purdue.

Let's look at the facts on Etling.

1.Couldn't cut it at Purdue in the shitty Big Ten.
2.Bad arm. Not just average, bad. He can not make the throws necessary to run a pro style offense.
3.Lacks Mobility. He's not a statue like Mett, but he's not nearly as athletic as Brandon. And in this conference you have to be have least somewhat of a threat to run at QB. Even AJ Mccaron was a decent scrambler.
4.Hes never played in the SEC. Unless they're just great athletes (Tebow, Newton, Marshall), first year QB's tend to struggle mightily. On the other hand, second year starters tend to improve greatly.

I'm not seeing it all with Etling. There's nothing concrete to prove he's anything more then a decent backup.

I don't see why people are scared to just talk about it. No one is anointing him starter, or even the #2..........maybe some are. But it's interesting that his name has been popping up pretty regularly over the last couple of weeks.

Look, if Etling ever gets in an SEC game Miles will probably get charged with manslaughter at a minimum.

Camp arm.

I think that Coach Cam is probably in the best position to handle the QB position at LsU. Although I do realize that some of the tards could do a better job than anyone already on the staff, I still think I'll wait for Cam to give his input before the Rant makes the final call...lol...

Ding, ding we have a winner. You are a fool if you think Harris's job is safe. Miles is on the hot seat and if Harris comes out and stinks it up his job is up for grabs. IMO Harris will be on a very short leash.

I know that Brandon and Jennings were not allowed in the facility for 2 whole weeks because of academic issues and Etling was the only quarterback working out with the team.

Have they already gotten rid of McMillan because of the greatness of Etling? Or did Brandon, Jennings and McMillan each have academic issues?

May be true... But I gotta call BS on the surface just due to the fact that Harris was out because of recovery from surgery.

There goes those facts f'ing with a good story again.

Why would he be barred from facilities because he's recovering?

Exactly sicboy, It's almost as if there are others motives afoot when discussing the QBs. I don't know who the QB will be and I don't care, I just want the offense to be better. If somebody looks at what Harris did and thinks there shouldn't at least be a competition they're crazy or biased. Part of Harris late season issues could have been the injury. I hope it was...one thing Etling has is accuracy and that's something that if we had at times last year the offense would have been much better. I hope Harris improves and plays great, but to throw Etling away without giving him a chance is, well, discriminatory... Glad that the ranters don't call the shots

Harris will be the starter against wisky. Eyeing will be a good back up if needed. Anyone sleeping on lsu next year are in for a big surprise. I look at them blowing out wisky. A great year is in store for this experienced team. I see one loss. And it's not bama.
