re: Who had the pleasure of watching Pete play?

I live 2 hours north of Tuscaloosa, AL. In February 1970 I drove to Tuscaloosa and saw Pete put up 69 points against Alabama (in a game LSU lost 106-104 in overtime). Pete flipped off the Alabama crowd on his way off the court - he became my hero that day!

I was a pre-teen when he played at LSU. What a showman! I can remember the crowd cheering him as he dribbled across mid-court in anticipation of his next dazzling play.
I still spin a basketball on my finger from time to time which I learned from watching Pete as a kid.

I only saw him play a few games. Not much tv coverage back then and living in Michigan didn't help.

Never watched him play but ran into him about 2 months before he passed while he was in Nashville. I introduced myself and told him where I was from and how much I appreciated his time at LSU. He asked me to sit down and visit with him. Enjoyed a cup of coffee and a 20 minute conversation that I will never forget.

I saw him with the Jazz when I was little, not at LSU. He was amazing. Every time he scored the announcer would roll out a "Piiiisssstttooooll Pete"

Not college, but several pro games in person. On TV various times with Hawks and Jazz. He made s backwards between the legs pass in an All-Star game that was just sick. Also, remember TV show of pros playing "HORSE." That was a weird show. Pete dominated.

I was a freshman his sophomore year, went to every home game. Saw him with the Jazz too. Have never seen anyone who could handle the ball like him since, no one!!!

I was in high school. People went to see him in freshman games and left before the varsity started. He was amazing

I saw every game of his last 2 years. I remember very little other than he being chased all over the floor by 2/3 guys every possession and still getting off 30 shots a game. I wish I were able to grasp his greatness more than I did.

I saw his freshman and sophomore years before we moved to Ohio. Unfortunately, I was only in kindergarten and first grade. My memories are not so vivid as I would wish.

I saw every home game he played when I was at LSU. He sat next to me in an accounting class and we talked upcoming games. Awesome talent. Hated the floppy socks, but that was his "lucky" charm. Never had the talent around him to be a big winner. NIT his Sr year.
My first season to go to football games was 1958 as a 12 year old.
Both sources of many Good Times.

I never saw him play at LSU but I used to have Jazz season tickets and saw just about every game he played at the Loyola Field House, the Municipal Auditorium and the Superdome. He was a magician with the basketball.

I got to watch him play pick up games at the Metry YMCA.
He drove a purple Porsche & got to shoot some with him as he waited for next up a few times.

Me and spent a bit of time with him and his father on a summer Saturday afternoon

Yep. And watched him play tennis at City Park in New Orleans one time. Basketball was his sport.

I was in school at LSU for all of Pistol Petes - '1966 through 1970. I was also there when LSU tried to bring in a black football player. He never played. I don't think he even had any practcing time. That was a time that not even the northern teams had had any black players.
