....even IF he wanted to leave South Carolina?

a) He has not had a successful season in a long, long time (not with the Redskins or with USC, either, and he kind of petered out at UF)

b) He is old and the game seems to have passed him by; he has to be looking at retiring soon

c) You would have to pay a big buyout

What is so great about Spurrier at this point? Seriously.

I agree, I would take a young Muschamp over
Spurrier any day of the week. Will can get it done.

If Spurrier comes on board I would take Will Muschamp as the DC and possibly bring in a young OC to just sit back and absorb it like a sponge for the 7 years the visor would be here.

We would all take his arse in a heartbeat! Put Muschamp with him and you have the dream team of college football coaches.

SPeaking for myself and a few others on here

NO

THere are question about SPurrier that should be asked. It is funny but if read the South Carolina papers the same complaints so many yell against Miles they are yelling there. Such as not preparing teams for the game, his players losing motivation etc etc.

I am not saying those are true charges. However they are out there.

However I think his supporters here think all his problems can be traced to not getting recruits to SC and that everything will be Nivernia here for him

I am not so sure. He is now 6 and 6 and strangely no one seems to care or even think that should give us pause.

Maybe it shouldnt. It does me though

IS he? It is an interesting question since one could make an argument that Arkansas was in a much worse position thatn SOuth Carolina as to the obstacles it has against it

Spurrier is just a big-time name.

but look at what Erickson has done in his first year at ASU...

i don't think Spurrier is a good fit for LSU, and I would be really surprised to see him there.

I want to see a younger guy with something to prove than someone who's time has come and gone, and is a freaking FLORIDA GATOR!!@#$)@#%)#U%)@(#UT)(@#$)(!#*%_(

Nutt's main problem at Arkansas was that the state does not produce the amount of talent that Mississippi, Louisiana, and the other Deep South states do; it was also harder for him to recruit Texas than it was for previous Arkansas coaches because they lost exposure in the state when they left the SWC for the SEC.

My concern about him is as a recruiter--he did not even keep all the best Arkansas guys in-state, although he will have a slightly bigger margin of error in Mississippi because of the greater size of the talent pool.

Good game day coach, though--I am sure I don't have to tell y'all that this week, do I?

The Facilities yes. However if the problem is recruiting which is what the reason is given for Spurrier woes then South Carolina might be in better shape. It is a close call

Spurrier=Good recruiting, with all the talent around here he can build a good team. I do think he's past his prime, but who knows what he can do. Either way, he would keep the program on track until LSU marries a new coach.

There's so much bullshite in this post. Where do i begin?

ARK has talent. Houston just couldn't keep them there.

Kodi Burns - that hotshot QB freshman at Auburn is from ARK. He's gonna be good.

Lee Ziemba - that OT that starts for Auburn as a freshman, all the Springdale kids. They had a another good RB that they let get away last year.

LSU starting center - Brett Helms

The list goes on and on. So, if he's the only school in his state and he still can't hold on to the major talent , then what makes you think he's going to lock down MS with all the other schools he has to compete with??

(Darren McFadden was going to go to ARK no matter what so it's not like he pulled him there from Texas. He's from Little Rock)

And if you think Houston Nutt's brilliant coaching won that game then think again Reb. #5 won that game.

Just like Alabama, yall fell for Sexton's line and overpaid for Nutt. 1.9 million/year for what?? to win 7-8 games? I know that's a huge accomplisment for yall but he would have taken the job for 1 MILL.

Economics is about supply and demand and the only schools that were looking at Nutt seriously were SMU and Baylor. Congrats, you paid all that to outbid those two powerhouses. And let's be honest you wouldn't even want Nutt after next year.

Nutt was a good hire for OM/step down for Nutt, but better than SMU and Baylor or unemployed - which he was going to be anyway.
