not sure what is funny there?

Yeah, the recommendation is about 500 miles, right?

You don't need to change your shoes every couple of months. That's absurd.
Especially the average weekend warrior type runner.

i don't know how often you change shoes but for a runner you shouldn't go longer than a couple of months
For someone running 15 miles a week?!?!

I'm guilty of going to far with my shoes. I've had my current pair for about 6 months. Started feeling it at the end of a run last week, hence the new pair coming in today.

Any recomendations in that price range
Go to a running shoe store and ask them to help you out. Then go online and buy the same shoe for $30 less .
I never really put that much into my shoes. Then I ran a half marathon a few weeks ago. Had trained pretty hard so no muscle pain or anything. However, my knees were in a lot of pain after (IT band tightness). Went to a running store and picked up some Brooks Ghosts. Haven't had any issues since. They were like $120, but afterwards I found them online under $100 all over the place. Most running shoes are likely going to be in that range.
Nike Pegasus was another one I found comfortable and didn't look all that bad.

no, i should have been more specific. not specifically for you, but in general people wear shoes well beyond their life span.
it was just my friendly psa for the morning crew

At least the minimalist kick seems to have died down. I know the running snobs love their Brooks/Mizuno/Asics/Pearl Izumi, but Nike Zoom Vomero is great cushioning without a high profile.

I really love mizuno shoes, especially the wave inspire.
Same here. I've been using them the last 4 or so years. The only downside I've found is that it isn't a high mileage shoe in longevity. I go through about 3-4 pair a year.

I have Asics Kayano 20s. Love em. They were in the $110 range but they're much cheaper now that Asics has rolled out the 21s and 22s.

I must have a weird stride or something because I am hell on a pair of soles.
May need a stability shoe or something if you have a strange wear pattern.
Also, know when to replace your shoes. Even at only 15 miles per week, that's only like 7 or 8 months that you'll get out of a pair.

That is barely a running shoe, then.
May be OK for lighter-weight runners, IDK.

How many miles per pair and what size are you?

Sorry I do not run more. I find other physical activities more physically rewarding.

Not sure about the Prophecy? The Wave Creations last for ever but are heavy and clunky. I use those for the gym. I run in Brooks Ghost or GTS.

depends. Currently about 25 and I do a lot of plyometric jumping which kills them but I have a pair strictly for running that I can get almost 300 out of before I notice the wear.
I use to wear Adidas Supernova and I could get about 4-450. maybe 2 pair a year.

Same boat. The only "fluffy" shoes I wear are basketball (back) and lifestyle shoes. I couldn't imagine lugging that behemoth around for > 6 miles.
