I realize that many will not see this as an issue coming, but since the new addition to the stadium, it has gotten INCREDIBLY HARDER to sell season tickets for anywhere near the price paid. I am not talking about the face value, I am taking about the real cost, which is a lot more than the face value in the form of TAF annual fees.

The OilField monies must be getting squeezed for extras such as tickets and game day events and hosting.

However, with LSU football surging with coaches and recruits, and with LSU football being a buoy in hard times, perhaps this offsets things somewhat?

Will the Oilfield downturn be noticeable in 2016 attandance?

My dad and I attended the Oklahoma game. Drove all the way from Alabama, gas is so cheap we can afford to go to more games.

I imagine they'll be a few more tickets up for grabs for Joe Fan since all of these oil field service companies are having a rough time right now. I'm betting some of them cut back on their season tickets.

there will not be a dropoff in attendance...but there will be some shifting of tickets due to some current ticket holders dropping theirs...

I really like this definition of oilfield trash from the urban dictionary
Oilfield trash is a term given to someone who works in the oilfields, typically as a Roughneck, and is caracterized by the following traits..
-likely has several tattoos

-drives a truck that is worth more than their house. They likely have a decal on the back of said truck that says "oilfield trash"
-is constantly covered in filth from working on the rig all day
-cusses every other word
-has never been married but has had many wives.

The true test to see if someone is oilfield trash is that they will feel a sense of pride in being called oilfield trash. They like it when people call them oilfield trash and its the highest honor for someone to call them that.
Mad driver: You dumb piece of oilfield-trash, your goddamn truck's exhaust is so strong it just killed my cat.

Oilfeild-Trash: Thank you sir. Your damn right this som' bittchin' truck is the shite, and the exhast only cost me $4000 dollars. Thats only a goddamn months pay for my sorry arse. I'll see your bitchass around.

Back to the question, so are you saying that there will be fewer guys in Costa del Mar trucker hats, boots and dip in the stands... Well maybe

Why do you buy tickets that you just plan to sell?

The economy still sucks people are not spending the 40 dollars a week they save on gas on tickets to an LSU game. The downfall of the oilfield hurts more than it helps

I've had it up to here with this hard times bullshite being spewed about lately. There's an answer for the spenders. They just don't want to talk about it, instead throw LSU in the hard times rhetoric. Playing everyone like a damn fiddle.

buyers shouldn't be responsible for your TAF fees to begin with IMO

Isn't the TAF fee tax deductible?

2016 will be a Natty year for LSU.
At a minimum, we'll be in the playoffs.

The needlessly large pickup truck industry will likely suffer more.

I see you have 17 replies, but let me pile it on for anyone still reading.

The cost of the ticket, is the cost of the ticket, and the amount that you can expect to get back on resale. You may be able to get more/less than that price depending on demand for the game.

The TAF fees, are a fee paid by you for the right to hold and retain season tickets. You cannot reasonably expect to pass this cost along, because the buyer receives no benefit from paying the fees.

If it were that easy to pass along fees, then people could just sit on tickets, accumulate points and never actually go to the games. This causes an inflated perception of demand for season tickets, which raises prices. Thus, the fees are separate from the tickets, because it is a separate product.

Lastly, combined with increased TV coverage, larger stadium and the teams recent performance compared to 10 years ago, market conditions dictate that the price would be going down for secondary market tickets.

No. The team's success will be the only variable in overall attendance.
