Livingston schools are better
Please explain how you came to that conclusion

How hot is the gf? Chances of getting hired increase when you're an OT 7+

Springfield is a decent school. They have good scores from what I understand. Some decent respectful kids go to school there.
But if your looking for a "white" school, I think that will have to be holden in livingston parish. I can't speak of any closer to baton rouge, as I'm from Tangipahoa. In Tangipahoa I'd have to go with Loranger or Ponchatoula.

Never said Livingston schools were not decent, but how can it be said they are better than Ascension?

I never said they were. I can't speak about ascension schools, I know nothing about them. Just giving my 2 cents on Livingston.

Overall, Livingston is better. I can't think of any school I wouldn't sent my kid to in Livingston. Can't say the same for Ascension.

Meh just avoid East Ascension.

Good luck. There is basically a waiting list to teach at the better schools in the area. Unless she knows somebody, she is screwed.
My buddy's fiancé is a teacher at dutchtown middle and she has been helpful.
Are new teachers really "screwed" without knowing someone to get them in?

She will likely make more in Iberville Parish.. Not saying its the best public school unless you consider mo money "best".

Sorry Walt, I take your suggestion with a grain of salt.

She should start getting her resume out to principals soon. Ascension is growing and solid. Zachary, Central, and Livingston are more political and don't treat outsider teachers great. In East Baton Rouge, Westdale Magnet, BRCVPA, BRFLAIM, Parkview, Shanendoah, and Woodlawn are all good elementary schools.

Brusly has good schools. She can also teach at an "urban" school for, I think 3 years and the government will pay off her student loans. I had a friend try but she couldn't take it. She's from Memphis so that is probably right up her alley.

It should be a requirement for prospective teachers to do their student teaching at an urban school just do that they can see what they're really getting themselves into. So many of these young girls have delusions of grandeur that they'll get hired by a "good" school which, unfortunately, in Louisiana are few and far between. Instead they end up at places like Baker or Glen Oaks and go home in tears every day and are seeking a different career field within a year.

Long distance relationships are for people that can't hold down a real relationship

Zachary & Ascension both have a really great public school system but if you want to stay in EBR you have to go private. In this case id vote for the LSU Lab School (UHIGH). Does she have her masters?

I used to live in the Memphis area.
Ascension and Zachary are probably the best public schools in the Baton Rouge area.
Both would probably be embarrassed by Collierville or Germantown public schools though.
