Let me rephrase, they don't have anything I want that they'd likely give us for what we have. I suppose if we threw in our top 3 protected 1st and got another team involved you could make something with Winslow for Ryno happen. Although according to Zach Lowe, our pick may be off the table even protected.

teams have gotten the impression that Dell Demps, the New Orleans general manager, may not have the freedom to toss in a first-rounder after dealing three picks for Jrue Holiday and Asik. Other teams have offered to slap top-of-the-lottery protections onto New Orleans' 2016 pick, but that hasn't swayed the Pelicans, sources say. Teams are also confused about whether Mickey Loomis, a top executive for Tom Benson's New Orleans Saints, has the final say over Demps.

New Orleans Pelicans: The Pelicans still like the idea of surrounding Anthony Davis with a bruiser; they've gone back and forth with the Bucks about Greg Monroe, sources say. New Orleans' roster is pretty bare going forward, and the team might feel pressure to salvage something from this disastrous, injury-riddled season.
The Pels and Rockets once flirted about a Ryan Anderson-Omer Asik swap, and the Pelicans now have both to send to Houston in exchange for Howard. But the Pelicans are sifting through a pile of potential Anderson offers, and teams have gotten the impression that Dell Demps, the New Orleans general manager, may not have the freedom to toss in a first-rounder after dealing three picks for Jrue Holiday and Asik. Anderson has drawn a ton of interest, considering his abysmal defense and approaching free agency; dude might earn $20 million per year on his next deal, and some teams would run from that contract. Detroit and Sacramento both hope to sign him in free agency, sources say, but the teams are deciding whether it might be safer to acquire him now and gain that fifth-year edge in the July auction.
Anderson thrived in Orlando under Stan Van Gundy, Detroit's coach, and he grew up around Sacramento. The Pistons badly want to make the playoffs after a seven-year wait, and they've shown some willingness to at least talk about dealing a protected 2016 first-rounder.
From Zach Lowe's article this morning suggesting us as a potential fit for Howard.

This is the interesting part. So if Detroit is willing to offer Illyasova and a pick in the late teens, that puts pressure on Toronto to offer Patterson and the Knicks pick. As much smoke as there is around Ryno I will be pissed if they don't get a decent return for him.

Can we please just fire both of them already?

Do you want Dell potentially trading away another pick?
Posted on 2/16/16 at 9:49 am to tgr4ever
I think the terrifying part is:
1) that Mickey Loomis has that much power
2) that it takes Mickey Loomis to stop Demps from trading away yet another pick

I'm ready for Joe to take Loomis' place, because you know Benson isn't going to hire an unknown, and Golden State's assistant GM to take Demps place.

Fully prepared for down votes but what do you all think of this:
NOP:
Kevin Love
Nene
Oubre
CLE:
Eric Gordon
Omer Asik (they were interested in him)
WAS:
Ryan Anderson
Varejao
I got a success on the trade machine if it matters.

I bet you do like that Cleveland ain't giving up Kevin love for asik and Gordon. Where on earth did that come from ?
Posted on 2/16/16 at 10:00 am to Mystictiger
I think Clev turns that down pretty quickly.
Star-studded doesn't coincide with Gordon and Asik

The Cavaliers are reportedly asking for a large trade package in return for Kevin Love, according to Brian Windhorst of ESPN.
According to Windhorst, the Cavs are asking for a "star-studded" offer in return for Love and Windhorst adds that he doesn't think there's a deal out there that makes the Cavaliers much better than they are right now. While anything is possible, Love looks like he'll be staying in Cleveland for at least the rest of the 2015-16 season.

Not bad but want a first round pick or some youth. I no longer mind gordon staying.

i don't, but that wasn't the point i was making. the fact that other franchises can't even tell who is making ultimate decisions means something is wrong. they don't know who to even call to make trades. how is that a good thing (besides potentially tying Dell's hands)?

They discuss Gordon and Asik to Cleveland here briefly. That's where I got it.

I think it means a decision has already been made regarding Demps and they didn't want to fire him until the season is finished. GMs having to get their moves approved further up the chain is not at all unusual. We went through this with Boss Stern, only Demps literally stopped talking to Boss Stern about moves because Woj and Stein seem to have wiretaps in the league office. That was a problem. As long as Demps and Loomis are communicating it's fine and not all that uncommon, this is making a mountain out of a molehill. I don't think Lowe is a sensationalist at all, but I think this is notable to him because the structure has changed, perhaps in an uncertain way, not because this is like the Nets and nobody actually knows who they are supposed to call. Even if Loomis is making the final call, you'd still do all the negotiating with Demps.

So why not fire him now? Why wait?
Scott tweeted this earlier:
If you're going to castrate Dell, why not let him go? You fire the coach who didn't get along with the GM and now you fire the GM after making shitty moves and hiring a shitty head coach. That's a shitty franchise.

The #Pelicans are operating differently than in the past (circumstances are also different), so GMs believe someone else is pulling strings
