Do you have an indestructible possum story?

Possums are tough critters. And they look freaky, especially at night.
But they are also really really tough to kill.
Do you have any stories, or know of stories, of particular possums that were hard to kill?
One my friend told me about 10 years ago was he and a group of buds were at house out in the boonies. There was a possum that was keeping them up at night, so they went out to kill it. They attacked it with a rake and hoe. And they just pissed it off. So they threw gasoline on it and tried to light it on fire. And that didn't work, even though it did catch fire a little bit. They had to get a shovel and do some serious tha-whackin for it to finally keel over.
That story always stuck with me.
One night about 3 years ago at my friend's house there was a tree stump that came up to the window level. I left the blinds off. I woke up to a huge possum sitting on that log looking right at me. It looked like the guy from Spy vs Spy. Pretty creepy gaze into your soul.
Even creepier when you know it wouldn't die.
Do you guys have any stories?

No, firearms have always done the trick.

A good whack to the noggin normally puts them down easily. Squirrels are way harder to dispatch.

.22 to the noggin does the job.

One time at band camp a friend of mine told me that he saw one at night that was really creepy.

Got off the team bus after a high school football game. Opossum was right by the door of our team bus and had a bunch of the brothers scared to get off. I found a small 2 x 4 and smashed its head and the femal bus driver flipped a lid and tried to get me in trouble. Wasn't hard to kill at all. Have killed dozens with golf clubs, bats, anything lying around really... having lived in the country my whole life.

Punted a possum out of a two story window in college after I caught him eating pizza crusts out of the garbage can.
He hit the concrete below, rolled up and out and looked back at me as to say thanks for the pizza bitch.

Once, I had been away on business for a week during the summer...came home and opened my garage to find that a small possum had been inside since before I left. For some reason, I found a little sympathy and took him outside and gave him some water(which he drank ferociously) and the next morning he was gone.
To this day, I can't figure out how a creature that is covered with fur could survive without food or water for a week in a closed garage during the summer...

This. The last time I got one, he was a good ways up an oak tree in my back yard, the dog was hollering, so I go to see what's up. Went back in the house, pulled out the Nylon 66 and hit that sucker in the ear.
When he hit the ground, the dog went nutz and tore him to shreds.

Had one that kept running around in the attic above our office, so I trapped it,,,well I shot it in the head with a .45 and an hour later he was still 1/2-alive. I guess I missed the quarter sized kill spot.

I always have to end up smashing them with a sledgehammer or chopping them with an axe. frickers just keep crawling.

I don't kill poor little possums, I just pet them and take selfies

Cousin caught one one night. Made a leash with rope and was walking it around like dog at a party. Kneeled down for someone to take a picture with it. Sumbitch bit him on hand. Swole up like boxing glove. True story

Have one frequenting my back porch at night. Idiot has eaten about 10 green rat poison blocks, won't die. I stopped feeding him

Shot one with a .380 once and it took several follow ups but I think my shot placement was off.
Possums cost me a half hour of work and a 6ft piece of matching vinyl siding of my neighbors shed because I tried to dispatch one of the largest possums i've ever seen with my bow. I missed low, bounced off the concrete patio and struck my neighbors shed. This possum was eating our cats food so badly I was feeding the equivalent of an animal shelter.
After that I realized I couldve just bought a live cage for the price of the siding and my time

Not a possum, but I've always shot armadillos with a .22 for instant kills.
Had a new .40 one night and wanted to test it. FMJ from 5 feet or less.
7 or 9 shots, all in the body, all entered and exited. Put him in the back of the golf cart to go toss to the turtles.
He had jumped and run off.

I have a Black and Tan coonhound that takes care of that. Armadillos too.
