Was our draft a success last year?

I keep hearing on talk radio and from the coaches of how we are on the right path with the draft and know our formula now. Lauding Ireland, etc.

I don't get it. We had a good draft position and only see one player as a lock as a long term high level starter.

Peat - should be a stud at his draft position. I don't see how anyone could argue that there is a more than 50% chance that he is even a starter in this league in 3 years.

Kikaha - or however you spell his name, was a reach just as Peat was. Looks slow to me and nothing more than a high motor, good character rotational player. I want to believe he's awesome as I see posted everywhere on this board, but don't see it.

Outside of that - I could go into specifics, but no one that even looks like a lock to be in the league for more than another year.

Am I missing something, as I think last year was as much of a failure as the past 7 years.

Would prefer that we put the draft on "auto pick" in future.

Peat will be the starting RT this year.

Depending on what they decide to do with him, Kikaha should develop into a nice compliment for Jordan. He can play SAM in base packages and Rush in sub-packages.

PJ Williams is an unknown but highly talented. He would have probably gone in the later half of the first round of not for his DUI.

Grayson, who knows really.

Davis Tull could be a nice rotational pass rusher and special team.

Swann is a baller if he stays healty.

Davison is nice depth. We need starter talent.

Murphy can be nice if he gets the muffed punts taken care of. He was a 7th round pick so it's not a real loss if he doesn't work out.

Bottom line is last year started to rebuild the depth of our roster and added a couple of starters.

For a team that has routinely blowing the entire draft outside of one player, this is a big step.

Are you kidding? It was our best draft since 06 easily. Almost every pick played extensively outside of a backup QB and two guys with a lot of promise that went to IR. Not to mention what, another 2-4 UDFAs that played?

Peat: He looked really good for a rookie at RT. The problem is that Strief was really good as recently as two years ago and I still think that he can bounce back. I get that Strief doesn't have many fans, even before his dogshit 2015 season, but RTs typically last a long time. Also, I think RT is the least important position on the OL, so I think that Peat has to be REALLY good to merit the top 15 pick. Still, I'm not as upset now about the pick as I was when it happened.

Anthony: Has shown flashes, but he was AWFUL in coverage. That was supposed to be his strong suit coming out of school. The skillset is there, he has to start getting it mentally. But that's the case for a lot of players that never DO get it. I think people are overreacting to his competence (rare for a Saints LB) and mistaking it for great play.

Kikaha: He fell off a cliff mid season, but he started off great and then was injured. I'm still very high on him. Higher than any other player from this draft.

PJ Williams: Who knows. Though I think his presence allows us to pass on a CB in this draft.

Grayson: Not a fan of this pick at all. Hope he proves me wrong.

Tull: Dunno.

Davison: Looked good at times. Not bad for his draft position.

Swann: If he can recover from the concussions, he looks like a GREAT pick.

I was never as big of a fan of this draft as most people. To be fair, I was PISSED about the Peat pick (wanted Parker, who finished last season on a tear), but have warmed up to it a bit. I think the biggest disconnect I have with most on this site is with Anthony, whom I think will be a subpar starter next next season. Hope he improves though.

Tell me what you thought of Evans, nicks, and colston when they were drafted?

What the frick? Anthony will be a future pro bowler and perhaps All-Pro.

This is stupid.

ok, considering we had 9 picks. Only time will tell. If Kikiha and tull have to play in a 4-3, the draft will be very average

Here's a theory: OP doesn't believe in their post. They just trolled to unite the fan base.

That's clearly the case because the post was fairly cancerous.

To my original post many months ago regarding the 2015 draft and how everyone on this site lauded us on figuring it out as loomis and Payton led us to believe. How was this draft a success again?

Can you haters tell me?
