Ban the basketball student section?

All they need to do is start enforcing rules that are already on the books. Do you think the university won't eject someone for throwing objects on the floor?

Let me get this straight - you think students don't attend games because they don't get to curse enough? Maybe LSU should provide various acceptable objects to throw?

Please.

Ever stop and think that maybe these are two different groups of people??

No. LSU fans have no middle ground. There has been a war waged the last 5 years between "I want to sit and watch the game in peace", and the "I'm going to get so drunk I'm going to cause chaos."

There have been tons and tons of threads about this topic the last couple of years. Neither is right, but I'd rather students try than have people be lame

There is a big difference between having a crazy/party atmosphere and having a bunch of losers chant F U Buddy then throw stuff at the opposing team when they leave the court. I wouldn't doubt if it was you and your group of awesome 28 year olds who still try to sit with the students who started it.

If it was unprovoked i could see the flood of tears over throwing things.

So you are saying that the students were "provoked" into throwing stuff at the OU players?

You don't think the students spent the entire game "provoking" the reaction that the OU players gave after the game????

Can't have it both ways, Chief. It was like the students could dish it out, but they couldn't take it.

You spend the entire game giving them shite and yelling "frick you, Buddy" and "over-rated", and you don't expect them to react back after coming back, getting the win, and sticking it up your arse?

Ideally we could have a loud pmac with class but this is the real world so it aint going to happen

Why? Why can't we have a loud building AND have class too? Why is this too much to expect? I have watched plenty of Kansas and Kentucky games on TV and have been to a couple games at Rupp. I have NEVER heard them do obscene cheers that came over the TV, and those are the two most intimidating places to play. Vulgarity and loud do NOT have to go hand in hand.

Some people are confused since the baseball fans have the ability to cheer for the opposing team and give them victory laps. They think that should apply to all sports.

No, nobody said that. I am not confused. I am pretty sure that the victory lap bullshite isn't good for any sport. I didn't want to give OU a victory lap...but I also didn't see the need to yell "frick you" at their players and throw shite at them after the game.

This. I just can't wrap my head around the fact that people can't grasp the concept that you can be intimidating and rowdy WITHOUT being vulgar and throwing things at people.

It looks like T grew some balls. Nice comeback. The age isn't close, though.

Well, yeah. It's called being mature and understanding how to behave in public.

It is pretty simple, you have a large group of 18-23 year olds together they aren't going to do pc things

Congrats to the hundreds of LSU students that made it to their first basketball game this year. Congrats to the hundreds more that made it to their second basketball game after seeing us play Kentucky.

Do you honestly think we are the only fanbase that partakes in vulgar cheers and debauchery?

This concept is too hard for some of these nitwits to grasp. and the sad thing is, there are grown folks on this site defending this stupid shite

With our population literally being dumbed down by the day, this should surprise no one.

Ever seen Idiocracy? This is an example of that. Stupid people doing stupid things, like using vulgarity as part of every day language, then cursing out anyone who disagrees with them.

You can be rowdy. I'm fine with that, but there is a line. Common sense left society years ago.

This is always the worst fall-back response ever. Why not strive to do things the right way? Why does LSU and it's fans always have to be referred to as the least common denominator because they don't know how to act? I would like, for once, to be compared to the basketball fans at places like Kentucky and Kansas instead of having to read about how crass and ridiculous our fans are. Is that too much to ask for?

Maybe we just need to move to Wisconsin. Chanting overrated there will cost the school a couple grand.

I never said I didnt think we should. And I havent said I agreed with the chants.

But dont sit here and act like this doesnt happen other places. We can expect better from the fans and I do, but its not just happening here. That isnt debatable.

I agree with you, and it is really sad. It is another reason why the rest of the country looks down on the state of Louisiana and it's population.
