I saw her in a few indies...and then saw her now in Room. She's really good but I'm not sure about long-term screen presence Hollywood wants.

I remember how small Jennifer Lawrence started with the outstanding Winter's Bone and you kinda knew.

But I also thought, Brit Marling was going to be the next mega-star after Another Earth and it didn't happen.

Does she have the it...after this acclaim from the Room to sustain it.

Brit Marling is indie all the way. She writes, prudces, and directs as well.

Brie is going to explode. She is already in a lot as is.

I'd still like Jennifer Lawrence had she just kept her g.d. mouth shut and not gone on a liberal crusade for Planned Parenthood and attacking Christians

She was really good in Short Term 12 too.

Don't know if I see her being an A-lister like J-Law but she's very good.

I liked her ever since she was in The United States of Tara. She did a great job playing off Toni Collette's character. I don't know if she's going to be a "movie star" per se though. I see her more as a great actress first movie star second like Jodie Foster was.

Short answer...yes.

Longer answer...I went to see Room this past weekend, and had heard nothing about it. Didn't even know she had been nominated or the movie, etc. I knew my wife had read the book, but other than seeing the trailer the day of going I knew nothing.

In fact, I was 40 minutes into the movie before I even recognized her as the daughter on that Showtime show Tara which I had really enjoyed. I had recognized the name, but hadn't placed it. I leaned over to tell my wife who the actress was, and she looked at me like, "No shite..." Weird thing about that, is that I always though she was the strongest character and performance on that show, which is saying something considering the lead was Toni Collette who was playing 4 different characters.

But yeah...she killed it in Room. It was hard to see in this movie, but she's really cute and is very charismatic. There's no reason she won't find pretty major success, if not the same type of roles as Jennifer Lawrence.

She was great as Abed's girlfriend in Community. Not sure why they didn't sign her long term.

Ever since I saw her in short term 12 I've thought she would be. That and she's really hot

I have been a fan since United States of Tara and think she has what it takes to be as big as she wants. However, I am not sure how much she wants to be doing blockbusters as opposed to doing smaller films that have roles she really can sink her teeth into. Look at her past and she has picked a LOT of movies that are indie films that never saw a theater release or were very limited. She knew that going in and she wanted those kinds of roles, apparently the giant paycheck and world wide box office was not much of a concern. So if she wants that, she can have it. J-Law took that turn when she accepted the role in The Hunger Games. Maybe a similar role will come up for Larson, will she accept is the question. I am sure she will win the Oscar so the offers will be there.

DC and Marvel will be fighting it out to get her to join their cinematic universes.

I don't see anyone from "The Room" being sought for other acting jobs. Granted, Tommy Wiseau was terrific.
