I always watch TV shows and wish I was in a place like them with crazy friends. For example, instead of Louisiana , you grew up in a beach town in California, or in a small idyllic educated town in Virginia or South Carolina. Or Hawaii. Imagine the friends you would've made. Th experiences.

Nope, grew up on the Mississippi gulf coast. We rode our bikes to the beach at 8 years old and played all day. wouldn't trade my childhood for anything

In south carolina, I couldve met a rich white girl who rides horses and plays soccer in high school. We couldve had beautiful kids.

Or in hawaii , I coudlve had a native best friend who surfs and an asian girlfriend.

Or in Ohio, had a crazy white stoner best friend who is fat and plays Mario kart all day

I think California always comes to mind because it seems every movie made is based in some seemingly perfect town in California.

This idea is just like every other "what if" idea. We romanticize anything and everything other than what we experience ourselves. I can go down the rabbit hole of what if about spouses, friends, vacations, schools, etc. Reality is though that the people you know and places you've been have shaped you. But make no mistake that people everywhere, even in the places most fantasize about, wonder what life is like somewhere else.

As an Army brat I kind of experienced it, living in Wash St., Missouri, Chicago, and Germany, then I moved to Nashville and met kids that grew up in the crib together and I will never know what that was like. You tend not to have life long friends like a lot of people. I know that's not growing up in one different place though.
