What Do The British Think of America/Americans?

Do they respect us for standing up to them?
Do they secretly hate us for stealing the continent with the greatest resources on the planet earth?
I can't help but think when I meet an Englishman how much they missed out on by treating us like shite and then losing the war.

My brother in law is a Brit, and usually full of shite, but is pretty cool.
He claims that they also celebrate te 4th of July, because they finally got rid of the undesirables.
