Sherlock would be my obvious answe but I say Endeavour is a close second. It has really hit its stride in series three. If you have seen it the first two season on Prime. What say you?

I prefer Luther over Sherlock.

I've recently watched River (Netflix) and Fortitude (Prime) and really enjoyed them both. Not sure if I'd consider Fortitude a detective series, it's unlike any show I've seen. It's a British series set in the fictional Artic Norwegian town of Fortitude. It gets really, really weird and dark. River is a 6 part British series about DI River (Stellan Skarsgard) who is losing his mind after losing his partner.

Season 1 of Broadchurch on Netflix was absolutely great to me.

Did anybody else watch The Fall on Netflix with Gillian Anderson?
I really enjoyed the 1st brief season, then it did a typical British thing and disappeared for a long time before finally re-emerging with season 2.
And season 2 sort of lost the momentum.
But it was a pretty good detective show.

Sherlock's best is better than Luther's best but Luther has a higher number of quality episodes

One of the best seasons of TV I've ever seen. That said, Season 2 is a pile of shite

The Killing
While the characters(Holder GOAT), music, and chemistry are great, The Killing has 2 of the worst payoffs in tv history. All of that filler just to find out that's how Rosie Larson died? Still pisses me off

Really enjoyed Season 1. Never caught season 2

Season 1 of Broadchurch is some of the best tv I've ever seen. David Tenant, Olivia Colman(Peep Show), and Jodie Whitaker(history of you black mirror). Every episode is packed with great visuals, music, and emotion.
That said, season 2 is almost Star Wars prequels level bad in terms of expectations not being met.
